Self catering at the Uni by

I usually shoot raw, but today, for a change, I set BP2 to jpeg and wandered off to the Uni, hoping there might be a Great Crested Grebe on the lake – still frozen so no chance. But in the trees outside Biology, I heard the sound of tiny birds, finally found them & clicked away. The buffer(?) wotsit for raw is a bit slow, so shooting smaller & therefore faster jpegs worked reasonably well.
About 6 Siskin were feeding, I got a couple of hundred shots and nobody stopped to ask what I had seen, what I was photographing high up in the trees! Sad, innit?
Why is that the smallest birds INSIST on being high?

    Beautiful detail, well done!

  • It hurt me flippin’ neck looking up at the tiny things! LOL Thank you, so much, I was delighted to see them. Not what I’d gone looking for, but a Siskin is always special.

    He’s pretty lovely shot Jesika :-) x

  • Thank you, Trudi. We don’t go birding now, so anything I get to see is local only. It may seem odd, but I see such a lot on campus and occasionally I’ll run into SERIOUS birders there. You know them, camo everything: camera, lens, clothes… Girlies had taken me to the Uni hoping to see Grebes, or Treecreepers. I’m happy with Siskin, except they like to be high and that hurts my neck.
