My second attempt at layers & textures.
The original image of Sam’s Red Rose was desaturated in Photofilter to -55%, a sepia filter applied and further desaturated to -25% in the red channel.
Using PSE4 I used screen filter 22%, & then dodge tool around the edges.
Texture 1 was a cream roller blind & Overlay filter -56%
Texture 2 a stock image & Normal filter 100%.

“Of one Essence is the human race,
thus has Creation put the base;
One Limb impacted is sufficient
For all Others to feel the Mace ”
—Saadi (1184–1283)
Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain.

This looks almost like a batik. It is stunning.
The process sounds very complicated but it was worth the results. Looks like a canvas; lovely texture and warm creamy tones.
