The sun, whose rays are all ablaze... by jesika

The sun, whose rays are all ablaze... by

Yum-Yum’s song.
The sun, whose rays
Are all ablaze
With ever-living glory,
Does not deny
His majesty —
He scorns to tell a story!
He don’t exclaim,
“I blush for shame,
So kindly be indulgent.”
But, fierce and bold,
In fiery gold,
He glories all effulgent!

I mean to rule the earth,
As he the sky —
We really know our worth,
The sun and I!
I mean to rule the earth,
As he the sky —
We really know our worth,
The sun and I!

Sung by Yum Yum, in The Mikado
Lyrics WS Gilbert 1836-1911
Composer A Sullivan 1842-1900

It just had to be. This song had been circulating in my head for a while and I knew I had two images which belonged together
The sun’s rays rising from the soft billowing clouds create an illusion of up lighting on the beautifully back lit Lesser Snow Goose at the University of York.

“Butterflies adorn the world and delight the eye”
John Ray (17th century naturalist)

This sky where we live
Is no place to lose your wings.
So love, love, love.
Hafiz حافظ

Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain.

“Of one Essence is the human race,
thus has Creation put the base;
One Limb impacted is sufficient
For all Others to feel the Mace ”
—Saadi (1184–1283)
