“Please join me on Wednesday and bring Jenny if you can,” Mary said, “I’d really love for my oldest (in years known!) & dearest friends to be with me. Will you take some photos too” she asked?
Nothing could stop us, so off we went to Scarborough to celebrate the occasion.
Mary is a very devout and deeply religious woman and for over 40 years has had a dream, the dream that she would one day reach her personal promised land.
Her faith has been tested, many obstacles have been placed before her, many hurdles, mountains to climb, oceans to swim across. Her health is precarious, but always, her resolution and belief in her God has sustained her, no matter how deep her despair and despondancy. She has studied, pushed herself to her limits and then beyond, in pursuit of her dream, never losing sight of her goal.
And on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, the dream became reality.
We were part of the small congregation to witness & celebrate Mary’s ordination as a Minister of the International Church of St Paul.
The road may have been long and winding, the end so close only to disappear again and again, but Mary’s faith, tenacity, determination and strength, proved that it IS possible to arrive at the chosen destination, that dreams DO come true. All that she needed was faith, strong and enduring faith. At times she doubted, doubted herself, never “the man upstairs.”
I am so happy for her, delighted in her success, but I’ve called her Rev for the last time, now she’s just Mary again.
Well done my dear friend, see you at the pudding party.

Jesika…this made me cry. I don’t know why…but it did. What a wonderful story! Just goes to prove that you can do anything if your heart and soul is in the right place! I am so happy for Mary….
Thanks for sharing this heart warming story.
jesika:
Made YOU cry! You should have seen Mary. She’s emotional at the best of times and this was BETTER than the best. Several boxes of Kleenex later….and that was just Jim – oh, he had a runny nose LOL
Thank you, Robin, it needed sharing, I think.
