Blue Blue Girl

Blue Blue Girl

A female Common Blue.
Two generations a year, possibly three in the south.
Each butterfly may live three weeks.
Blue Blue Boy is the glorious male.
Wingspan 35mm .
Caterpillars eat any plants of the pea family so the species is widespread, but declining in numbers.

This sky where we live
Is no place to lose your wings.
So love, love, love.
Hafiz حافظ

Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
If you have no sympathy for human pain,
The name of human you cannot retain.
Saadi

“Of one Essence is the human race,
thus has Creation put the base;
One Limb impacted is sufficient
For all Others to feel the Mace ”
—Saadi (1184–1283)

It’s such a wet & miserable day and I haven’t seen one of these beauties this year, so another chance to view one of nature’s treasures.

This is one of my earliest attempts at “up close & personal.” It was taken in late summer early autumn 2005, just after I discovered the macro settings on my camera.
I chased her around Wheatlands, a joy of a place if you are ever in York, she settled, I snapped & here she is.
I’m so happy you like her, I think she’s wonderful.

    Wow, only 3 weeks, ack!

Some of the Fritillary species here (in Winnipeg) can live 10 months,
The bad thing about most of Fritillary species here is that they look SOOOO much alike and I have a devil of a time IDing them.

Lovely capture and detail, nicely done.
