Hello there,

I am pleased to introduce myself to this artistic community.

From a very early age, my forte was always drawing and painting. If I wasn’t very good at anything else at school, I did excell at art. Fellow pupils would always come up to me and say “how do you do that?” I never had a sure answer and tried to let the work speak for itself.

When I left school I knew I didn’t want to go straight into a job (in the early seventies, money didn’t seem so important and it was cool to be seen to be alternative!).

My parents supported me in my further education. I attended Norwich School of Art for four years and attained a BA (Hons) in fine art there. Being the place where the likes of Cotman and Lucian Freud honed their apprenticeship, I started in the disciplines of figurative representation but was soon attracted to more “conceptual” areas of modern art. My final style of work was using mixed media with photography being a main ingredient.

After getting married and having a family my art susequently took a backseat role. However, I am recently separated and seem to have more time on my hands to start and become creative again.

I have not had any formal training in photography and I know I have a long way to go to become technically adept at the craft. However, I am eager to learn and improve.

I like to take pictures of anything that attracts my interest, that I find quirky or mysterious. I also like to inject a sense of humour into some of the images.

In recent years I have managed to travel further afield (particularly North Africa), which has inspired me to take a lot more photographs.
