RB wants feedback!!
Hey, fellow artists! We started a petition and it didn’t get ignored! Within hours, it became one of the all-time popular writings in RB history!! The problem is that I put it in the area that’s reserved for writers and poets! OOPS!
The good news is the Peter, the president is listening and requesting specific details about what’s aggrevating and how to fix it! That’s the best thing to happen for quite a few days on the bubble.
So redirect your attention here and give productive input. Redbubble hears us and views us as important!!!
So how do we fix this overview setup?
Jerame *
Peter wants feedback, but he wants it on the journal instead of “writings” where the poets and writers put their work. That’s my mistake.
So let’s fix this. We’re on a roll!
tuffcookie
Plan and simple it needs to go back to the old format! views and comments are way down on my end. i can’t find half my friends or watchlist new work.I’ve been reading but didn’t get a chance to post my response!.
tuffcookie
oops I mean ” Plain” Not plan lol
Tara Sheffer-A...
Peter, with all due respect, the views and comments did not decline until this recent change in format. I have a lot of people here to back me on that. And now we are all paying for it. Granted it visually looks nice, but everything is a mess with this activity issue. For a lot of us, our views and comments have dropped by an average of 90%. That is horrible and people are losing the motivation, not just to log in here, but to go out and do what they love most, be it painting, shooting, or writing. That is a sad thing. Therefore, my problem, and the largest problem I have heard from others about is the fact that in this new format, everyone is gettng behind and missing tons of work. Numbers are dropping and RB is somewhat in danger of losing a ton of wonderful artists.
Visual Inspi...
Woo Hoo!! Nice going Jerame!!
O.K.. as a host of a group on here, I find the people aren’t paying attention to my bubble mail due to the change. I also find that I am not entering any challenges or seeing the group mail the way it is set up. I agree that so much b mail is a problem, but maybe there could be a way of limiting the b mails from each group . That is just one major problem I am finding. I will add more later… thank you for taking the time to lisson. Rhonda Parcesepe

cheers hang in there ,maybe it will change

heya my biggest complaint would be the speed of operation
adjust the cache to dump
align each avenue (even group forum comments)
i like the layout, but the new layout confusion and the delay is very discouraging
to many people i know who are not computer literate
make it as fast as it once was, give members the option of using email for group notices vs public notice
just my opinion from what ive been able to intake
Shannon Donovan
I agree with Kelly, (tuffcookie) Peter. The old way was the best way; for me. I was used to that format for a full year from joining. And I also agree with Tara in that my views and comments have dwindled to nothing. Where I would normally garner a few hundred views per image. I do not like the idea, that when I upload an image and submit it to a particular group, I am no longer notified that this image has been accepted anywhere. I do not like the group updates on the My Bubble page, as I am not active in every single group shown. Also, I co-host three groups on here, and whenever I send a group mail, it literally disappears. And I do not receive a copy of such mail. I’m just very disappointed, and as I said, if you want to know what I want from this place…I want it to go back to the previous design. It was the easiest, friendliest and most enjoyable way for me to interact here.
Visual Inspi...
I also don’t like the part where it says “Images you may have missed from people in your watch list, and some of them aren’t in my watch list!

atm not well enough to write, lucindly but I am geting more feedback and coments from ‘new’ people ?? but I stuffed up the right hand colemm and can’t get it back to how it was maybe I did? Everyone needs to spread the word about this journal too. The response to the petition was incredible! We need everyone to stay with this until it is resolved!
I could’ve been doing other things these past few hours but this was important to me. Let’s see this through to completion!!
jo beerens
‘Images you may have missed’ is a combination of new work from your watchlist and works that are marked as favorites by people in your watchlist.
Karin Taylor
just redirecting my comments here from the previous journal Jerame
@ Peter…
after reading through some of the comments here, and things others have said, I’m coming to some conclusions myself…it is a combination of the following things…
1. the economy
2. after christmas slump
3. the site problems which created doubles and enormous frustration amongst members
(why? we are time poor….the whole world is……we want it faster and we want it now, sadly
and unfortunately for RB and other businesses on the internet….the time and download
factor, coupled with ease and usability, are major factors in business thriving or not)....it
was extremely unfortunate that RB reached full capacity when it did….then there were those
other outages around bushfire time…. at the time, i believed a lot of this could have been
assuaged through effective communicative techniques, such as having an area like twitter do
that you can click on a link to find out why the site has an outage quickly and just know to go
about doing other things until the problem has been rectified….some of the outrage and
frustration is just occurring as we sit here waiting and waiting for an upload to work, and then
after half an hour it times out…. we have to figure out ourselves, is this RB or is this my
server down….a lot of lot of times, it has been RB down…as i’ve gone finally to check on other
emails etc…..
4. Too much change, too many times, too quickly can amount to a disastrous effect, a little like
what’s occuring now….. it would be a great time to offer reassurance now…..to offer more
communication in line with the amount of feedback you are receiving from members, to
balance that out with more communication….. there is a sense of lostness, a sense of us
being without a visible head….you are that head, the one we look to….whether you like it or not
we do want someone to lead the way…….we can still be partners of course…..but we need to
be reassured there’s a captain and someone steering this ship….. even if it is a bubble…..
5. I believe you are going about things the right way, eliciting feedback and listening to others…
you are definately on the right track, i was once not so supportive of you perhaps, but you’ve
grown on me a lot……we can get through this….we just have to try …… and realise that this will
take time.
6. I don’t know, but i think that as a community, we are evolving and changing…..and it could go
either way….or a myriad of ways……this is the perfect time to be in strong communication with
us……letting us know your vision and your plans for Red Bubble….if we are partners, we need
more information
I believe that the new site changes have created a general feeling of disorientation among members, it’s a general thing…hard to describe or put one’s finger on…..and in general, i think a certain amount of flak was inevitable….i think everyone would have expected that. but perhaps all the problems we had before, combined with the new changes have all been a bit much for some……i know quite a few friends who no longer log in, or very rarely, i really miss them……and i’ve felt a bit that way too you know…but i see red bubble as a major player in my life, and i don’t want to let go….it’s a wonderful wonderful thing…..i luv it, I admire you and the admin….and I’m not brown nosing either…..just for those of you that may think so….i’ve come a long way with how i feel…..i had issues with lots of people here…..i’m working on ironing it all out……if we all try a bit harder, we may just get there..
LoriSmaltz
I almost forgot this, sorry, Thanks Jerame, youre always a winner in my book!

Well said Karin…finally a voice of reason.

I have also approached RB regarding the ” work you may have missed feed” i found it distasteful and inappropriate for NSFW images to be popping up on my home page, where my daughter or potential clients could see them. I had thought the issue was resolved but then today when i checked I counted at least 8 images that could potentially offend someone of sensitive constitution. I’ve been with RB for over a year now and love the sight for the positive feedback i have recieved on my work,,, which has seen my work change and grow. as well as for all the wonderful friends i have made.
However since the new layout has been instituted I rarely see new work from my watchlist, my views and comments are way down, and i am missing a lot of work from my watchlist. I do my best to spend an hour or so a day commenting on new works but i know find it extremely frusterating and time consuming and i end up missing alot of wonderful work.
The best part of the new changes is the alphebetical order of my groups. I still love the site but am greatly missing the sense of family and comfort that was one here. I sincerely hope it comes back :)
tuffcookie
i should add that i have no issue with nudes and such. just that i don’t want a potential client or my child to see them on my home page…. just so you don’t think i’m prudish lol.. which i’m not :)

What is the average age of a member on this site, and what is the average age of people who buy on this site?
Time to begin consulting with a broader age group IMHO.
Linda Bianic
I have to agree with afore mentioned issues of missing work, comments, and communicating with other bubblers in general,,,,, I also find that I am not entering as many challenges, nor am I commenting /congratulating deserving winners in most of my groups…..too time consuming and confusing to keep scrolling up and down the page..
I am not fond of the work you may have missed window,,,,, too much info,,,, and the group bmail window,,, maybe in a different color print,, I seem to ignore it altoghter!!
I do however,, like that my groups are alphabetical…
thanks for listening! :)

Price increase made my sales die!!
I agree with everything Karin said!!!
WayoftheWarrior
I wrote this earlier today in Journal so I will place it here as well
Members views, comments, replies are all down. Either we miss the work, miss the comment, or it becomes such a JOB to comment and try to keep up we just give up. I read a thread another member wrote, that they will not change this because for everyone that leaves, ten new members join. This may be the case, however, for RB it does matter because a hundred people could join and if they sell nothing then RB gets nothing in return. There are some awesome artist ,photographers, and writers on this site and if they all start to leave then one could only guess sales of work will decrease.
Second, many of us have made friends here and it seems impossible to keep up with their work with this new interface, yeah it works,,,its a pain. I know that is not a priority from RBs side as a business,,but it is for us, the members.
The atmosphere on the site is changing,,,not in a good way. Members are frustrated and leaving. Short term may have no effect, long term it will. I have stayed here because I have always loved RB, the work, the people, the attitudes, the atmosphere…was by far the best site on the net…I have quit a few things on this site and have never thought of the profit margin for artist vs seller. However that said in a way u could say I pay to be here with my work.
I write this not in anger..but in hope that RB reads it and decides to fix something that did not seem that broken. I write it out of a passion for a site that I love and the work and the people here…If I did not care I would not even try…I have been on other sites and when I landed back here I found a place to call art home….So I ask RB here your members…..........fix our home…please!
If i did not love this site so much I would not bother…...some of the changes are great…the user interfsce and all the jumping around gets old…I know the changes are beinf made to better the site but thinking these changes adversley affected many things
Jerame *
Everyone should commit to directing all friends to this journal! There are so many that feel the same way you do. Let’s iron this out and resolve it.
I MISS THE FUN AND GOOD TIMES!!!
Laddie Halupa
Was reading through some of the comments and had an idea that I got from another site that sells stock images. On the other site, if I view someone else’s shots, I can see how many times that shot has been downloaded (bought). One of my thoughts would be if Red Bubble allow us to see how often other’s have sold their shots and perhaps even in what formats. That way as photographers, or writers, or artists, whatever it is we do, we can see what people are looking for and strive for better work from ourselves that way.
Lynn Bauer
I’m going to let the people who have actually been on-line the past couple of days speak to the current problems, as I have not had the chance to spend much time here. The one thing I have noticed is that I have gotten very few bmails since the site changed up & I rarely scroll down to see the group bmails, so I have no idea what I am missing. Something that I would really like to see improved would be the ability to find my own photos without having to scroll through page after page…possibly an “Edit” or “My Art” search feature. Having to scroll through page after page for anything can be extremely frustrating! Overall, RB has been a wonderful community & I hope that we can all get back to doing what we love most…without all the hastles!!
joyousmoon
Congratulations on starting this Jerame! RB is declining by the moment…blank pages, incomplete uploads, inability to refresh the home page, hence never knowing who has loaded new work or who has commented, 504 errors, servers unavailable, mail not being delivered, and the worst message “Oops this is not your fault, but lucky for you we have passed on this error to the right department!”(or something close to this!) And the very worst is the spam situation, emailing RB to alert them, and never hearing back from them…do they not want to know when we are being harassed? Being a little more than tech savvy, perhaps they did not want to hear my polite, but direct opinion of this spam situation and what the future could bring with this woman whom I found out on my own is the same spammer as last time! Why are they not truly listening. The system worked well before, is it not clear that “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it!”? There is so much wasted time invested on the site quite apparently by many of us, if this continues, RB is bound to begin loosing members who will go elsewhere. If this is a matter of finances, perhaps they should look into charging a minimal fee, selling .com names, and doing a full hosting line to increase revenue. There are many ways to work with this, but first it is up to the members to all pull together and keep track of all problems occurring, and then get back here and WRITE THEM DOWN IN BOLD LETTERS!
Pamela
Visual Inspi...
I think others SHOULD see how many times an image has been viewed.. how many comments.. favored etc. .. not just the person who’s image it is. That would bring up sales. Isn’t that what we want all the way around?
MICKSPIXPHOTOS
Peter, you’re asking for specifics and once more that is overcomplicating the issue. Simply go back to the old format and ALL OF THE ABOVE WILL BE SOLVED !!!!.
In the old format all activity pertaining to me was automatically displayed as soon as I entered my page. I didn’t have to click a button to see who that I’m watching has added new work, and another button to read comments and replies on my work, and another button to see if my work has been accepted into a group, and another button to see what challenges were going on, and another button to see who was featured in a group, and another button to see wether one of my pieces was featured in a group. And if I commented on someone’s work or replied to a comment on my work and hit the back button it took me back to where I left off…not back to the beginning forcing me to slog my way through several pages every time to try to find where I was, and if I did get lost, at least there were page numbers to help.
Also I didn’t notice ANY “flattening of activity” before the change. There were some glitches, there are always going to be some glitches, the fall-off in activity is a direct result of the members not wanting to have to navigate thier way through all the different areas. It’s one thing for admin to spend the kind of computor time that takes, it’s your function; my function is to take pictures and try to sell them, and every minute I spend trying to find my way through the new RB is a minute I lose comming up with new product for you to sell. I’m fully aware that my work isn’t much of a money-maker for you; my sales aren’t going to make or break RB, but again I have to ask, shouldn’t you be making things as simple as possible for your suppliers instead of difficult ?
*
Anna D'Accione
Bring back the old site, it was much more user friendly for us oldies that do not navigate the computer as well as the youngies. I know I have missed a lot of work as I am not continuously on the computer and can only do it in the evenings or early mornings
abfabphoto
I’m sure I will have some input later, but I do not believe RB acirtivty (commets and views) dropped as a result of this. It was much slower even before this. I know the friend I’ve talked to including myself have just not been on. People started on redbubble and a few months later, the hype just was not there anymore to be as addicting as it was before, even for me. For me personally, not being on redbubble has nothing to do with the new format.
I do have some other concerns, but wanted to give my input on this.
Jerame * replied
I truly think you missed the mark on this. Redbubble was still exciting when it was working the former way.
Kim Calvert
I like the old bubble better, on this new one I am missing so much new work from my watchlist…sometimes change is good..but NOT this time..this is just to complicated..hard to keep up with everything..its going from fun and a pleasure being on here ..to..a pain and too much work.
Vanessa Anderberg
I could definately follow the old system completely. It was straightforward…not cluttered and we had the choice of viewing the favorites of others on our watchlists.
Now…we get them in a side bar format…wanted or not.
I have done safe filter artwork….and had also chosen to block watched work that might be risque for my daughter to view(from the other artist’s favorites)...
No longer possible. She walks up to the site…and sees the ticker with various work.
Also…the old format specifically focused ON the artist’s work…where it was going, into which groups…etc. We knew what we were seeing immmediately.
The Bubble mailing of group messages worked fine. We saw our work/contest info in those. Now? we lose half of it in the right hand column.
Comments and other artist Motivation is down, down , down. No one has the time, nor the patience, to weed through pages of work now. the format is confusing, and time consumming.
Not knowing what groups accepted your upload is not good, either…we saw this before.
I completely agree with the people who say the old system WORKED fine…even Great. I never had one complaint about it.
Now….It is discouraging, and annoying to me, when I log onto the site. The constant feeling of starting over to review everything you missed…and moreso, seeing things you did not wish to see in the first place.
The reason a good many of us are on this site…is to gain inspiration, and learn from one another….and also to grow as artisits. now? I just feel the changes are TOO much…not Clear…and unwarranted. A true distraction from even wanting to be on…to upload, or to participate in the site period.
Visual Inspi...
Can I ask Why?? Why the change?? Why fix something that isn’t broken? BRING BACK THE FUN IN THE BUBBLE! Friendships are half the bubble.. that is gone… We are missing our old way and now everyone is leaving.
abfabphoto
Another reason I believe that people are not leaving comments and/or image count is low is that there are just too many people and too much artwork. I think people who host groups should be limited to a specific amount. They think of a new group thats fun and exciting again, then they stop moderating their old groups. I mean I know people who have 6 groups and they do well and I know others who have 6 groups and more than half they abandoned or have given up on. That has nothing to do with the new redbubble, it’s people who have found time to do other things or who just have gotten bored.
Many images just don’t get featured and/or are not moderated. Some groups have the same features they did 4 months ago. Thus, less images are being spotlighted, thus less image views….
Jerame * replied
again, I disagree. If 100 people joined each day, it doesn’t affect how many I keep on my watchlist. I choose who I want on my watchlist. So the bubble can have 1 new person a day or a million and that doesn’t affect me personally.
Katagram
I am disturbed with the major delay in uploading works, I very seldom IF EVER get b-mails..I host Accentuate The Eyes group, we recently had a challenge that just opened for votes..I went to check on it..this group is small by comparison, 445 to date..WE HAD ONLY 8 entries..I truly think this is due to all the changes. I have had very few comments, features and not one sale for 3 months, yet those who have viewed my work tell me I am getting better..The way things are right now..I am doubting myself, and my friends…I have been a lover of photography for 30 + years, and the past month I have come very close to hanging it all up..I had so many friends here, but very seldom hear from them (bmail issues), I have to go to EACH AND EVERYONE on my watchlist to make sure I haven’t missed any one’s work…guess what.. I HAVE!!!
I have a full time job, a family, host 5 groups (and am waiting word on another). I do not have time to search to see what I have missed..Please Peter…make it all better…
abfabphoto
Oh yes it was exciting before, I’n just not sure why it’s not anymore. I think truly its a combination of the new format, too many changes going on at once, server not responding (i had hard time uploading images for several weeks at a time), and also like Karen said, people do not have the time either, etc.
1.What I do not like is seeing group posts to groups I do not belong to.
2.Too many groups that are left unmoderated.
3. Hosts have too many groups to keep up.
As a result, many groups have now become so hard to enter work in (picky, for a reason I’m sure), I just simply gave up.
funkyfacestudio
The old format was easier for me to navigate. Click -your works favorited Click -your works commented on. Click -replies to your comments. Click -new works from your watchlists.
I think that being able to see comments on your activity page and replies to comments takes away the clicking…......before it was like opening up a present hmmm “I wonder what they said?” and you click to see and while you are there you see a member that you never saw before so you click to see their gallery but now we may be missing out on that and staying in our own bubble.
I am not a host so I can’t comment on that aspect but I am happy that I don’t get multiple bmails from some very enthusiastic hosts LOL.
I do like the works you may have missed but I don’t think rb is taking the nsfw filter seriously enough. I don’t care to see those images on my page and nor do I want my daughter to see them.
I haven’t been reading as much about groups the way it is now…..........maybe they could do bmails for challenges or changes to groups and send all others this new way.
I do like being able to watch forum threads! that is so cool !
I did prefer page numbers for activity and bmails.
I still love my RB though ;)
Donna Adamski
Great Peter, thank you for listening. Without us there is no RB and not only are we the artists and suppliers, but we are at least 75% of the buyers, if not more.
Likes of the new system:
1. Group BMs are gone – group hosts totally abused it. There is no need for BM for challenges – that comes through the activity feed at launch and again when they open for entries.
2. Not seeing MY replies to comments, but I do like seeing the comments others have left on my work and their replies to my comments.
3. Works & favorites of my watch list (also showed new works from people I don’t watch or might not have ever seen)
4. Groups in alphabetical order
5. Group forum watch list
6. I just noticed the pagination change – good deal
7. Group news is OK, but needs a better format
Oh, and to add to tuffcookies comment, I see more and more people are not abiding by the NSFW rules, especially when they upload to my groups where it is specifically stated – NO NUDES – SAFE FILTERS
That’s all I can think of for now, but a good start! The rest well….
jujubean
Hello,
My main problem is that going thru challenges is so much more difficult now because when you hit the back button it doesn’t take you back to the previous page,it takes you all the way back to the front. Also does this when you are going thru comments and such.waste a lot of time. It used to be fun here, now all my friends rarely get on. i would like the old format back….....Thanks!
Daniel Fitzgerald
I came back after several months to this new layout and was shocked at what I saw. I can see that it has all the latest designs but seriously what was wrong with the old way? I liked it, we liked it. I do like the bmail system though. have contemplated quitting some groups due to the large amount of bmails, and now I can open 8 bmails from her in 1 click. Brilliant. Please bring back the old style my bubble!

Bring Back The Fun!!! We lost it with the new Redbubble! Missing alot of our friends and there great work!! Lots of people do not like change! We don’t want to lose anyone and that is what is happening!! Like said before if it is not broke don’t fix it! The only thing you needed to fix is the way it doubled posted everything! All the rest was GREAT!!! Put it back!!!!

I can’t see how many people I have in my group like I use to..

WOW already starting to see some changes….hmmm seems like we may have done something. Sorry ran away for a bit!!!
Ok so here is my two cents worth….
1. the time outs are ridiculous. I hate being kicked off it irritates me.
2. As a host I think that the bmail from hosts needs to come back. I know some people hate them but so much is getting missed when they are just topics. A challenge just closed in one of my largest groups and there were only 4 votes on the winner. There was over 100 entries….No way to let people know that the voting has started or coming to an end!!!
3. Slow uploads. last night it took me almost 5 minutes to upload 1 image…Ya I timed it!!!
4. The fact that you cannot see older stuff. There is a gentelman on here who gets more than a hundred features a mohth and he is unable to keep track of them now. It will only let him go oh so far back….Thats not fair…
A couple good things I have seen and thought I would share…
1. The fact that when you open your Replies/comments it does not show your replies which just takes up space…THAT ROCKS and makes it easier for me personally!
2. Love the checkmarks to show that I have done this and that….Love that!!!
There are good to every bad!!!
Most importantly we need to make sure that people are really unable to steal our work. That is happening WAY to often and frankly that scares me the most. Not sure if that is something that can be fixed but its nice to know we are being listened too!!!
Thanks Mr J!!!!
alexkess
Wow what a mess. The Flood Gates have opened…
abfabphoto
Oh wait one more thing LOL
There has to be a different way to see where your work belongs to by group. For example My group used to accept unlimited works, so if you had 10 in there that was fine. Then the group changed it to for example 5. Those 10 already in the group will remain there, but no others can be submitted. New members or member not reaching the cap of 5 may still already submit.
Those people like me who already have the work, must now go back to every single page and image just to see which work was submitted in that group. Like many others, having over 20-30 pages of work, it is almost impossible to find which work was there, leaving only the option to “leave” and “rejoin” the group.
This is a hassle especially if you are featured and/or a host, you lose all that. It’s a pain in the ARSE!
There has to be another way. In my groups almost all old member have a start date of last month when they’ve been part of the group for almost a year.
That’s annoying :)
Also as a host when I tell people that option, they get very angry at me because they don’t understand why they have to do that. I know many people have shown this concern as well.
PLEASE CHANGE THIS REDBUBBLE! :)
Vickie Emms
It’s died. I don’t get comments/views like I used to either. I’ve even talked about this to my friends, and now I am talking to you RB. I host/co-host several groups and the bouncing back and forth to moderate and re-open the My Groups tab is a pain and time consuming each time. I liked the old way of having the groups in a list right before my eyes and none of this refreshing everytime. I miss my friends work most of the time. The long list of “happenings” on the left is too long to start looking through and you will say, well I have that feed opened. Well, how else can I see what is going on. I enter a lot of challenges just for the fun of it and now it’s lost to not knowing where/when a challenge is going on even with challenge events checked off. Also, as for the bubblemails from groups I liked them. The new group news is not being read, or it if is no one is commenting on them either. Some features are nice, like watching forum topics, I like that. I don’t see group avatars anymore when giving my members that honor every two weeks, it’s almost a lost cause. Only the Groups list sees that. I have been a member of almost every photo site there is and thought this one was heaven. Not anymore and I’m getting the same feeling from some of my best friends in here and some are talking of leaving.

Everything is still there, it’s just all in different places. It’s like moving all the furniture in your house around at the same time. TOO MUCH TOO SOON for most people. Medicine is best taken one spoon at a time.
VIEWS, COMMENTS, FAVES – all down drastically.
VIEWS, COMMENTS, FAVES = EXPOSURE.
EXPOSURE = SALES.
SALES = GOOD TIMES FOR ALL CONCERNED.
jo beerens
You might want to check the new Mybubble page with the pagination number.
Rosalie Scanlon
I liked the old system better, however, the best improvement of the new system is that the groups are in alphabetical order. I prefer the group mail where it used to be, after you read the message you could delete it, now if you are not on for a few days, you miss out on contests, etc. and for some reason the new group mail seems to be hard to read. As everyone has indicated all the comments and views of your work has gone down.
Donna Adamski
Kasey Cline – 2. Love the checkmarks to show that I have done this and that…
What check marks? Where? Somehow I have missed that one!!
Yes a way to tell what images are in which group and a very much better system for managing your work than those crappy arrows. Takes days to move work around, unless of course you want to send it to the first position or last one.
Russell Greenwood
Just want to clarify from people if I could:
A few of you are saying that you like being able to flick through the different feeds on the left of the old-mybubble. You all know they’re still there over on the right under “Filter Activity Feed” right? And where you used to set “favourites” you would now “configure the default feed” within that drop down and it remembers which feeds you want to see each time you come to MyBubble. This core functionality didn’t really change at all.
Re: NSFW images in the “Work & Favourites form your Watchlist” – Because of caching in MyBubble, if an image isn’t flagged as NSFW at the time it hits your activity feed, and AFTER that it’s changed to NSFW it will still show up in your MyBubble. We’re aware of this – but there’s no quick fix. Needless to say – NSFW images won’t show up if they’re flagged as NSFW images at the time they hit your activity feed.

I would like to be able to see the complete list of those who have me on their watchlist.

Being new to this site since March of this year, I have adjusted to the changes as they occurred. I have researched many different photographers’ sites and I truly feel right at home with RedBubble. The people/participants have been more than kind and supportive with great respect to the “Play Nice” policy. I cannot say much about the previous operations due to my recent entry; however, I can assure you that I for one will see this through to completion!! Thanks for your time. PS. Life is all about changes and improvements; it is through conversations and opened minds that we can succeed! Sincerely,

I’m waiting to see a pic of a bikini-clad funkyfacestudio appear in my activity feed. Oops, wrong thread.

I don’t know if it’s just my dial up or if others have the same issues? But if I go to a group to see what challanges are up…....my comp takes FOREVER to load the page..
I’ve lost viewership…
I don’t get all my comments…
It’s frustrating to have to go to the ‘groups’ page…to get to my groups’ mail….
I DO LOVE having my groups in order!!!!!
I want to be able to leave comments and get redirected back to the main comments page without having to re-search where I ended last…...........
I still go by the ‘If there wasn’t anything wrong…Don’t Fix IT!’

I’m waiting for Darren’s budgie smuggler avatar ;)

I really dont mind alot of the new changes..eg..visual replys to comments, group layout,..I’ve even gotten used to opening a new tab to leave comments!! BUT… I mostly have a problem with the fact that its lost its “feel”...people are running around lost…not viewing or commenting.!!!!!! its like someone through a cat in with the pigeons!! ....from what Ive seen..most people would be happy to have the “pages” back…because that seems to be were everyone looses their place!!! and looses heart in having to scroll back and forth if you dont know how to use the ‘tabs”!! Maybe tooooo many changes toooo quick for some of us!!! LOL..Good luck…please aleast get the pages back so people can stay on track..Ohh…group bubbles seem to be getting overlooked with the new setup as well!!! Thanks *-)
Rhenastarr
Bring back the old format. It was a much friendlier version. Things are definitely slower to upload, when you can upload. Items are missing, for instance all my features can not be pulled up. Slow, Slow, Slow. If something is working and everyone seems happy with it, why the change?
Ginny York
First of all to RB…Thanks for listening to us and what we really want as a group. I’m sure there are different things that we want …but for the most part…lots of people want the old way back. I myself like the numbered comment pages. When real life gets us busy, the numbered pages for comments and replies was much easier to catch up on. Now when we go to “see new activity’...it only takes us so far back and then stops. So we miss comments and giving replies which are so nice in this type of community. It helps us get to know each other and helps us to get a better understanding of what people like and don’t like about the work on here.
I like the bubblemails to let us know what is going on in the groups. I have missed quite a few challenges and updates about what is going on in groups if I get a bit behind due to being busy in real life. We all get busy sometimes and it’s hard to keep up when there is only a few items on and the rest are hidden in the group news. Plus it takes longer to go to the groups and find things like that. The bubble mail took you right there! It was nice.
I’m not sure we need to know what we missed. If we wanted to see that…all we used to do is go back a few pages (by numbers) and look.
I’m just glad that you are one of the groups on the net that cares about us and wants to makes changes that will help us and ones that will make us happy. So thanks in advance, Ginny
Karin Taylor
I feel the need to mention here that the old way was broken….i’m not sure if people realise why it was broken and what actually happened….it would be very important from my point of view to explain this to the community. What happened, why did the old way not work anymore…...I mean I think i know why, it reached full capacity, and that’s where the doubles of images and new uploads not appearing, etc…all started happening….
If Peter, you were able to explain this to the community, i think you would garner a lot more understanding and consideration from those that feel disconnection and upset by the changes…..it is important with change, to understand why…... many people here, seem to have not heard the news about why you made the changes, and how it had to happen…..and why there was no choice…
Could we trouble you RB to put out a communique which clearly explains the reasons why the changes were made….the lead up to it…..i think it could be well worthwhile and very timely to do so
jujubean
I didn’t mention what I do like and I’m sorry! I do like the groups listed in alphabetical order now. Thats great. And,I don’t realy mind the work you might have missed part as long as half-nudes or nudes don’t show up there. I have kids looking! Thanks, again.
Karin Taylor
oh, on a personal note, i’ve not said much at all.. although i don’t like change, i see the reason for it – i see it as a necessity and i believe RB only wants the very best for this site and it’s members. I see these changes as a challenge, and something i will soon get used to…i looked straight away for what was good about it, i love the new
“Watch a Forum Thread” thing…...i was a little miffed at first by the activities flow monitor, but i’m fast adjusting …..i really like the peace in my bubblemail…but what troubles me deeply is this, the effect that the change is having on the community has the potential to cause deep rifts, splits and shifting of members loyalty, and this is ultimately of great import…..keeping those members here who are well established is i think a very important thing, because they somehow create the essence and flavour of what is red bubble ultimately….... we do not know how much of a contribution the newbies shall make…....so if you lost us all, and only got newbies…....would that be okay…....it’s just a thought
ooyayootay
The old way wasn’t perfect, but it was FAR less frustrating to navigate than the new system.
1. Going back inb navigation takes you to the top of the previous page. Annoying when you had scrolled down before clicking the link to the next page.
2. One cannot see the reasons why a group may have rejected your photo. I believe this to be important because, so long as the host rejecting the work isn’t a self-appointed arbiter of art, one can learn from rejection.
3. I DON’T ALWAYS SEE NEW WORK FROM MY WATCHLIST, NOR COMMENTS ON MY WORK FROM OTHER REDBUBBLERS!
4. COMMUNICATION from the webmasters to the Artists would be invaluable. ESPECIALLY a little forewarning whan things are going to be revised, or if there will be a scheduled outage of the servers. It CANNOT take that long to compose and create an announcement!!
5. The swimming-through-molasses speed of pages loading, especially pages that SHOULD be in the cache of one’s computer, is just unbelievable. It really sucks when one is in the middle of uploading a 4mb photo only to NOT have the upload finish! The page just sits there! DEAR GHOD!! I can’t count the times in the last week that I had to start all over with an upload, including ticking the Group submissions and everything, because the lack of functionality with RB! A few times it took 3 tries to complete an upload of a new work!
If I think of any more, I’ll add it.
THANKS for letting us vent.
Ginny York
Woooo Hoooo!!! I see numbers at the bottom of the comments and reply pages!! Thank you Red Bubble!!!! Fantastic!!!
Karin Taylor
oh and another thought, men and women think differently….so a man will want to fix the problem…but i really think the fixing is on quite a different level…rather than adjusting things on the my bubble to suit everyone’s preferences (although preferences might be a good thing), to think more along the lines of communicating why….. and just see what happens, there may well be a shift in understanding and general opinon and a willingness to go with the flow of these changes, if people continue to feel in the loop, heard and understood, but not necessarily make all these other changes…..the problem lies much deeper than the surface issues of wanting the my bubble so increasingly personalised.
jujubean
also, when you want to enter a challenge it is now taking FOREVER for all of your images to load!
Ghelly
In my opinion there is always resistance to change, no matter what these people do, it will be impossible to make everybody happy. I’ve seen changes have been made trough voting process and I think it’s a good way to proceed with petitions.
Sometimes an artist upload many and similar images in one day and expect the whole watchlist to comment on every single piece, this doesn’t have to do with the interface. it’s the community, everyday new artists join RB with new works and the attention is diluted.
I recommend a more modular interface, where one will pick wich features will like to see and disable those that are deemed not interesting.
This site was built to sell art *and RB is not supporting hosts in a way that could attract our own community to buy our own products. I made I request and was completely ignored with a standard rejection. Very Very disapointing. I launched a challenge trying to encourage people to buy the winner work . I wanted to be able to offer something extra as a free shipping or a sort of discount because is among members and it was a challenge. N.O.T.H.I.N.G. (this will need a separate journal)
Peter you should not ignore the community that give sense to your website/project/business.*
Here is another journal that perhaps you haven’t read: by Fire Marie

I basically found nothing wrong with the new format except that you couldn’t go back far enough on past entries.
Most of what I have found is that people don’t like change and so don’t respond to anything because of said changes so it caused views to fall off and comments not to be made.
The right side panel has made it easier to view without having to open more pages which reduces page loads.
Now that they number of pages of listing is back I think the new page is good to go
Jan Timmons
I like the changes I see and use. The format seems cleaner to me, and I prefer fewer bmails from groups. Just hope you don’t suddenly want money for a “pro” size photo, as photoblog.com did several months ago. However, I understand that in these times even web businesses need help. (But talk about a rift that Karin mentions…!)
Memaa
Dear Peter,
After working with the new format and really trying to look at it as being progressive, I have decided I really find it more cumbersome. I also am not getting as many comments and I cam so tired to scrolling and scrolling and scrolling afet I place a comment. PLEASE RETURN US TO THE OLD FORMAT!

is it possible to go back to the way things were, and add one thing at a time to where things are today and maybe this would work better? With a few exceptions that the majority of people are complaining about.. thank you Peter for listening
Smudger
thank you for listening :-
a) on profile page and looking at individual comments please can you add an edit button for both the image and the comments
b) increase the number of pages for featured work (3 is surely not enough) – going back 14 days is not good enough for me
thats all I want to be a happier bunny

I am not going to write a “book” as well guys and girls, everyone out there already wrote what the big “BUG” is on the current RB that frustrates us all, so this is my support “I agree with each and everyone” it all must change to the better again!!!!!

WE BELIEVE IN YOU REDBUBBLE!!! Thank you Jerame for tapping into the core of the population here and getting the real problems to the surface! This is how positive change can occur….and the beginning of the growing process….Now it’s time for Redbubble to listen and begin to work on transparency, and a better communication process with it’s members!
For now I just offer you my inspiration for today

Simply put :
I love the Right hand side of the page, & hate the left hand side.
Left side is too difficult to follow where I’ve been, & I keep missing things.
Right side is great, but I don’t really need the “Work & Favorites from your Watchlist”, because if the left side of the page were easier to read I’d be getting the new work from my watchlist anyway.
When you first introduced the changes, I really liked the “work you may have missed”..... I discovered heaps of new artists this way & they subsequently went straight to my watchlist. ( I’m aware that I’m probably the only person in RB who actually liked this feature…..... you can’t make us all happy!)
Keep up the good work :))
Nanagahma
Ditto to MICKSPIXPHOTOS, I agree with him. I hate having to go through page after page of works submitted, click on something I like, then get taken back to somewhere far from where I was and have to go through them all over again. That’s the case with going through group BMails. The old way was much more user friendly and saved time and allowed me easier access to my friend’s works. I feel lost with the way it is set up now and much too time consuming to navigate. I’m not entering competitions like I used to and I’m not getting BMails from the groups in a timely, user friendly way.
greeneyedlady
i admit i was a little confused at first, but once i learned how to configure my feeds, i was able to customize my home page to what i wanted…that really eliminated a lot of the “clutter” everyone is talking about….personally, now that i have done that and am used to it, i rather like it…...that’s not a popular thing to say, apparently, but i do and i’m just stunned at all the outcry against it…..i am so grateful this site even exists, it’s free and it has never stopped being fun for me…..and i honored to be a participant…..thanks for listening!!
DwCCreations
I feel like I am missing so many things since the change, that I don’t know what I dislike the most. I certainly don’t like not being able to just log in and see new work from my watchlist, along with comments on my work. I’ve reset my settings several times and still see a lot of things that I don’t want to see.
I also miss getting group bubblemail, and don’t understand why that was such a problem to begin with. If someone doesn’t want to get bubblemail there is an option (or was) to turn that off. I used the bubblemail system to save notices of launched challenges in the groups for later reference. The way it is now I miss most of the challenge announcements for my groups.
Bottom line, I’m about as happy as everyone else here! Sorry RB!
John Vandeven
Like most people here, I’m not happy with the new overview…I seem to miss comments and new work….Love to go back how is was…
RB is fantastic…Hoping you are able to resolve the problems.
Lori Peters
The new system was taking up way too much of my time. It is helpful to now have the comments on pages. I can simply go back to page 3 instead of having to scroll down over and over again. That is an improvement. If the new system can be improved to where I can be sure that everyone in the group that I host gets a group bubblemail, that would be so helpful. Thank you for listening. x
LudaNayvelt
Here is just suggestion to Red Bubble. I am personally happy with new system layout, but I am It person.
1) You need to work on response time and time out issues ( I think a lot of us less using system due to pure response time and also I can type a sentence and time out, and all info is gone)
2) maybe you can put small video which explain to the rest of the world ” how to use better new system”. I would do it before and now format.
3) I really love new way because I do not need to spend time to go to the image multiple time to read comments and replies .
4) I read complain that people do not get group messages , Maybe you need to change format a little for this item, but I like when I do not get group mail together with personal. The best way maybe to allow to customize portals per user , but again small video how to would help.
5) I noticed if item popular, I am getting problems – check if you have some kind of lock issues. and good luck.
Colleen Milburn
If everyone has ‘customised their default’ on their ‘Filter Activity Feed (located on the right), I don’t understand the problem.
DO some people NOT KNOW to do this?
If that’s the case, maybe RB needs to put out a general easy-to-understand tutorial on this. I’m computer literate, but many aren’t – RB just needs to keep this in mind.
JayneLogan
My main beef is the slow speed. I am quite concerned in that I’ve put art in 3 stores this week and I am relying upon my bubblesite to show off more works; if they are greeted by this agonizing slowness I’ll be embarrassed.
Kevin Bergen
I’m surprised at this whole thread. Yeah, there was a big change on the site, but I didn’t find any of its workings very different—MY BUBBLE still works the same with the controls just in a different place. I LOVE that I don’t get Bubble Mail from all my Groups!
Actually though, I am heartened by this whole thread—does this mean there’s another reason for the huge drop off in comments on my images?? I was about ready to drift away from the crowd with my head hanging low because I thought nobody cared about my work any more. I’m serious, I’ve even lost some interest in photography because my last two images got such little attention. Maybe my work IS crap, but now I have some hope that people just weren’t SEEING my work. sigh
SaRaHKnOwDoG
I have written on the help page.
My problem is i simply can not get the drop down menu for activity feed ? Is my computer that old ( 10.3.9 OSX )? I can not use activity feed button, my groups button, add button and until today i could not even go back through activity to see if anyone was trying to comment or reply to me ? Or to see if there was NEW WORK up. Thank goodness i can now at least do that ! I AM GOING TO MISS A LOT OF STUFF not being able to access MY GROUPS and ACTIVITY FEED. Also the windows on right of page just don’t load ?! So i can not see those new boxes any way ! I love RB and will be really bummed if i have to stop using it because the new page is only set up for those with the best and newest operating systems : ( Kill the poor ….......
Once again Thank Goodness the pages of history of activity have been returned, i can now at least half use the page.

I hope Kevin knows that this thread is not for him.. it is not a debate.. it is a place your views on what is wrong with the change.

I really like the groups being alphabetized, please don’t change that back, it was a very positive and time-saving change.
alexkess
Could it be that the lagging and slowness is only experienced by bubble users outside Australia? If so has RB got a mirror-site in the US and Europe? Anyways here in Oz it is pretty cruisy.
I think the main problem with the new interface is that the majority of people don’t know how to use it, so I suggest For Redbubble to post a tutorial of the new MyBubble Page and notify everyonevia a BMail and Newsletter. I think the new MyBubble took most users by surprise.
Also there is still no proper replacement for the Group BMail. From a hosts point of view the communication in my groups has become a lot harder. I know that Group Bmail was broken, but the New Group News in its current form does not work. The Group News need to be right there on the overview page of the group. I know Redbubble is working on this. Also give people the option to subscribe to the Group News, this way they are in power as to what they receive.
I am pretty sure that right now RB has hit a wall activity is down, possibly sales as-well. I think we all need a bit more of a positive attitude to this and get involved again.
Comment, Favourite, Interact, Participate and Buy, Buy, Buy!!! Otherwise this place might be bye, bye, bye!
Love The Bubble!
jo beerens
Yes. The latest update is from April 15, 2005. RB doesn’t have the manpower to support each and every browser version.
Walter Quirtmair
+ Yes, the site is slow recently (I’m in Austria)
+ Contrary to others, I like the new design
+ Finally we have a text-list of groups, it’s easy to scroll and navigate
+ Finally we have an alphabetically sorted list of groups at the submission page. Great!
+ Group News is great! No more bubblemails I have to delete manually; If i want to see group news I go to that section and I also often read older news
+ Now if I have a bubblemail I instantly know it is addresses to me personally, thats great!
+ Yes, views and comments dropped over the last weeks for me, too. But if this happens to be associated with the new design – I can’t tell.
+ The “What you have missed..” section doesn’t bother me. I think its good to get a glimpse of all the art out there that way.
+ Maybe some activity feeds are too hidden. Probably it’s a click too much necessary to get the information somebody wants.
+ Reading (the start) of comments on mybubble is great, I think. No need to open the image page if the comment is short (and 99% are short)
+ Personally I think the overall design is good, maybe RB should tweak some bits here and there
+ I can remember that, when the activity feeds were introduced months ago, there was a similar uproar… but it all settled down

I was only disgruntled until just this minute when I saw that pagination is back! YAYYY!! I really think this could solve a lot of problems, because I know I was not seeing as much as I had been. Everything is THERE, but with all the scrolling and whatnot I know I missed works. After using this new interface for a bit, I like it. I know how to get to all the places I need to be and see what I need to see. I know this is not a debate, but lots of these comments are addressing a problem that is gone.

Lower your pricing structure to make a credit crunched world more likely to purchase products.
DragonFlyer
The page numbers are back!!!!! Fantastic! Hopefully this will solve the HUGE problem there has been in the simple task of ‘navigating’ the site! I was finding myself increasingly ‘stuck’ just on my overview page, as trying to get ‘back’ to where I was on it from wherever I went to was SO INCREDIBLY TIME CONSUMING, FRUSTRATING SCROLLING BACK AND FORWARD… using up the time I would in the past I would have spent browsing and commenting on others’ work.
This means marked decrease in exposure / passing trade = much less possibility of a ‘sale’.
Something is not filtering this appropriately as it used to.
NOT GOOD!
KiwiAna
I have about three or four people commenting on my images now and before it was at least 5 or 6 and when an image was great, more. Also I feel like I’m missing out on people’s pix. I wouldn’t mind if there was group mail and Bmail or if it was all together as it was b4 no probs there.
I’m getting tired of the slow site speed. And pages being lost and so forth.
Also I think more access to some kind of stats so you can learn more about marketing would be awesome. A lot of sales here are between friends – fellow RB artists. If we can’t find each other’s work you as well as we lose revenue.
Sam Fonte
hi Jerame,
i like the new layout/look/feel, well done, great work!! i don’t find it that hard to use, though i’m not sure if i’ve “customised the default’ on the ‘Filter Activity Feed’ as Colleen mentioned.
i’m really really happy not to be getting a lot of bmails about group activities etc. that was kind of annoying. i’d rather go look at what’s happening in a group in my own time. notices about group challenges are useful, but i don’t feel that i need 10 updates about it and reminders to vote can be time-consuming etc..
i don’t think i need such a large space on my feeds page being taken up with a notice informing me that i have not subscribed to follow the ‘discussions’ in forums etc? i find it hard to type, and need to keep that to a minimum, so i haven’t subscribed to any forums and i’m unlikely to spend hours on end reading the forums either. i’d rather that space on my main page was used for something else. i do like the new pics down the bottom of the page with new work and work favourited etc, but maybe they could be separated out into 2 groups, or alerts as i’d often rather know about new work from someone in my watchlist than see what they’re favouriting etc. sometimes i miss new work from my watchlist because it seems to be gone from that place before i get a chance to look at it. and i am also getting work there from people aren’t even in my watchlist. so that might be a glitch?
cheers and keep up the great problem-solving.
Sammi

I’M HERE TO SHOUT LOUDLY AND PROUDLY THAT I LOVE THE NEW RED BUBBLE ACTIVITY MONITOR. I MUST ADMIT IT TOOK ME A FEW DAYS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH IT… BUT IN LOVE WITH IT.. I FELL!!
I agree though with Karin and others.. if there were a way to show the community in a forum thread … that there are problems with the site currently… (that everyone can visit quickly when they’re having issues to see whether it’s an overall site problem or their own) ...that would be just marvellous!!!
Sure… I had a few days where I couldn’t upload after the change.. but I just put that down to problems with the upgrade. When companies I’ve worked for have changed the whole internal distribution database.. .everyone expected glitches and problems to arise that needed to be ironed out… as every company does when they change their internal software… it ALWAYS happens.
Now everything is running beautifullly for me … in fact better and faster than ever!!
Perhaps the others are right.. in that a tutorial or a way to point out all the new features and symbol/icon meanings may be the way to go. Many don’t “click here to see what this does”... or “click there to check out this new thing”.
POSTIVES:
- The fact that we can choose to easily keep an eye on forum threads by clicking on the ‘WATCH THIS TOPIC’ button at the bottom of the page of each forum thread… is BEYOND BRILLIANT (when previously you needed an RSS program.. which I never got around to installing).
- That fact that a litte tick shows next to work we’ve opened or actioned is great.
- The fact that we now have page numbers at the bottom of the activity feed is even better than before so we can easily keep track of what page we’re on.
- The fact that we no longer have to waste time actually opening up and wading through group bubble mails to make sure we don’t miss anything important is fantastic.
- And I adore being able to read replies to my comments without having to open up the actual page (because let’s face it… it’s usually a quick thank you).
If anything… the new activity monitor saves me lots of time… not slows it down.
The only thing I wonder is whether perhaps the fact that we can read comments in our activity monitor means the amount of page views may be cut down because of it?? Although that shouldn’t make a massive significance to numbers because I didn’t think page views were counted when we were openiing our own work?
Without change… no growth happens.. without change there’s no chance for excellence!!
Squealia
OK guys, there are pluses to the new system, but having used it for a few weeks now there are some evident flaws that are God dman annoying to say the least!
I like how the lefthand side looks. I like the ticks beside the work viewed and the start of the comments showing. HOWEVER I hate the more activity and the fact that it always pings back to the top, If I make an error and forget to open in a new tab (which adds more time to add a simple comment) I usually give up at that point! I HATE how the replies to my comments and comments on my work are mixed togather. I would prefer them separate. I never look at group news as it doesn’t seem to hold the messages, they seem to drop off the list, but PLEASE never add it back into Bubblemail. There is nothing more annoying than receiving 20 BM’s from groups, often informing people for the millionth time about group rules! But seriously I think the main issue is the more activity lists etc. The rest people will come to accept in my opinion. As I said my one other big bugbear is the REPLIES TO COMMENTS and COMMENTS ON MY WORK, I REALLY WANT THEM SEPARATE! I know you added group moderation of my work back, does that include my work removed from a challenge? Thank you for time to try and make RB more fun again.
jo beerens
People before commenting please check your Mybubble page.
Page numbers have been added and More Activity is removed. Some might require a refresh of the page. Go to the Mybubble page. On that page press and hold the CTRL key while pressing the F5 key. This will reload the page.

Haven’t read all of the comments here but I’m chipping my my two penneth worth.
Firstly the old page layout of my overview for who commented on what or who on my watchlist uploaded something new was simple and clear and could be read at a glance, there was a focus to it. Now I find the new layout is a jangle. Too much info overload.
The bubblemails are just too clever by half. The older system worked for the same reasons as above, they were simple and told you at a glance what was what. The new way means I have 16 unread bubblemails that disappear off the bottom of the page and I really can’t be arsed to go though a series of clicks and opening new windows etc to try and find them.
This has had a knock on effect in that I sorta don’t stop by here so often now to see what’s what. It’s become a chore to wade thorugh all the new stuff to find the old familier things I was soooo used to. I mean if I want to look for the activity of a group I’ll go to the group to see, I got enough bubblemails from moderators telling me of thier activity anyway I don’t need more reminders to tell me to. Know what I mean?
I appreciate the efforts of RB to keep this site slick and fresh looking but, as Jerame has been saying:
If it ain’t broke, why fix it?
Sometimes all the bells and whistles isn’t what we want, in this case; less is more.
Thanks for reading.

As a host i put in the group news a message response nil. put up a reminder response nil, if the group bubblemails were still there this would not happen, ive now handed over the reigns of one group and my co hosts handed over to as its very discouraging getting zero response.
iI loved the community spirit but its gone, our wales group loved organising meets, it is ok to get messages to our regular attenders but to newer members it was so easy to let them know ofevents via bubblemail, now sadly I can see it will only be the normal members attending these meets and we can continue that with or without redbubble so i can see these groups that are thriving fall apart as im totally loosing interest
Catherine Veal
I dont like the new Bubble at all, for all of the reasons above. If it aint broke dont fix it!!

Group news is a problem and we’re going to keep working to improve it until it is better than the old system. Please realize that many people didn’t like the old form of Group BubbleMail … so we listened to their feedback. This is the problem with listening to feedback … not everyone agrees on how to change things. We change thing when we listen for the feedback and can see a good reason for the change. And I think there is a good reason for removing group communication from BubbleMail. BubbleMail was designed as a one to one communication tool but group messages are broadcast messages. They should exist in a public space – where they can be responded to. They shouldn’t be tied to one user – it’s communication from all hosts. Many hosts were being intimidated into not sending group news because many folks viewed the quantity of group notices as spam. Anyway – as has been stated elsewhere we’re committed to working on group communication until it works better than the old system.

Peter, I’m so glad you are listening.
1) The old My Bubble page format worked better. Not everyone can check regularly so being able to go back through numbered pages is essential.
2) It’s very important that when making a comment we can go back to where we were in one click, no scrolling. It’s equally important that having replied to comments we can go back to where we started with a double click. Last night on replying to comments I had to backspace through every reply on a posting before I got back to the start point, it took ages.
3) The alphabetical display of groups is a big improvement.
4) The old weekly email listing of how many views, favouritings, features, sales was much better whereas reading what so and so just said is pretty useless information.
5) I didn’t mind the group bubblemail being in the general bmail tab but if other people don’t like it that way, then why not have two mail tabs, one for friends bmail and one for group bmail? If each group mail started with the name of the group in bold then it would be easier to go through picking out the ones you were interested in.
6) Personally I don’t have time for forums but a general heading of forums leading to a subsection with more headings would help to be able to pick out what was relevant.
Nobody likes the section of what you have missed, it takes up space and doesn’t even provide mouse-over info of the title and artist.
7) One improvement would be to be able to sort one’s own works to find out what was entered into which groups. This is because if there is a submission limit of say 10 entries then it is impossible to delete a few to allow more postings unless you happen to have a fantastic memory.
8) Above all else would perhaps be effort spent, not in endlessly tweaking parts of the site that we use ourselves but in marketing our goods to the rest of the world. That is what the site is for and it’s sales that we want as well as showcasing our work, making friends and enjoying other people saying “That’s good!”
9) Another point may be that everyone has different styles and subjects of interest and it would be nice to see this reflected more on the home page to direct visitors to their own areas of interest. There are some spectacular photos but we don’t see enough of these on the homepage which is frequently filled with cartoony drawings or images of fairies and suchlike(!) in what appears to be a purely random mess.
10) Perhaps a poll about preferred features would be an idea before you make any major changes in the future?
I hope that is of some help as I realize you must be groaning under this bombardment.
kalaryder
My two bob’s worth?
1) Would like to see comment on my works separated from replies
2) Love the alphbetical listing when uploading photos
3) Dislike group mail because I don’t believe it is being read – not by the numbers beside it, but as Peter says,RB are working on that
4) Dislike the slow time
I can just about live with the rest, although it was touch and go for a while. I still prefer the old way, believing it was cleaner, but if I had just arrived on the site, I would no doubt believe the site is fine. Had noticed a slowing of images being uploaded

I also agree very much with what Karin Taylor said!!!
Alice Oates
I don’t actually get why the new system would be maknig comments decline. I for one am commenting MORE and on pieces i wouldn’t have before because of the part on the new overview pages about new work and favourited work from your watchlist.
I agree group bubblemail would be better, but to be honest i just don’t see why the new system is decreasing comments. If people don’t like it and are leaving well they won’t comment, but it seems a bit extreme to me. Also, lots of people LIKE the new system-who’s to say they won’t leave if it’s changed back?
Jerame *
Everyone should take the time to check out the new improvement! Now it is easier to keep track of the work on your watchlist like it was in the older setup!
This will help everyone to not miss work from your watchlist!
We should all be encouraged by the fact that RB doesn’t have its head in the sand and Peter considers our issues to be important!
John Brotheridge
The new system is considerably slower and too invoved – what it replaced was clear, fast and simple to use. I agree with others “Images you may have missed from people in your watch list’ I miss them because I am tired of the slow uploads, trying to navigate an over involved process and stop looking! besides they ARN’T in my watch list! My 11 year old daughter viewed a near pornographic shot recently placed on my page, but NOT in my watchlist – Well done RB – YOU are responsible for pushing porn at kids now. If we get another one, you will be hearing from me in a less calm tone. Admit you have got it wrong and go back to the old system. Are your profits suffering yet? ...They will be.
Squealia
OK silly question time! I still think of the main concerns was the more activity tab v’s pagation, some like one and others like the other. Now here is the silly question! Would it be too expensive or difficult for you, for people to be able to choose which form of setup they wanted by a click of button?
Jerame *
I urge everyone to not abandon ship!! Some have and some have decreased their activity on here. For most, selling work wasn’t the first motivation since I don’t know of anybody that could make a living do that here. For most, it was the opportunity to get positive feedback from other respected artists about your work.
We each need each other for that to continue to happen and rather than get discouraged and quit, be motivated by the effort that RB is taking to hear our complaints and try to continue to make RB the best site we’ve found!
Jerame *
I meant to say:
For most, selling work wasn’t the first motivation since I don’t know of anybody that could make a living doing that here.

I like that we can open in new window but I don’t like that I can’t access comments favs etc.It was better in the old format.I have’nt been on much due to other commitments, takes for-ever to go through everything you don’t get time to post.
I certainly don’t like that groups are to be shut down.I don’t enter challenges any more no time and too hard.I used when all you did was tag your work with a code.

I have bmailed with similar issues to most of the above – most of yesterday morning I could not even get onto the site! Pages are slow or will not load at all & its not my pc as its the same on my laptop. It’s not just a case of getting used to something new ….I always give things time, but I dont feel this new layout keeps me in touch like the old one did. I cetainly am seeing a drop in visitor numbers & recently missed out on a host of new work from my watchlist…grrr
I think RB has done great work in creating the community, & sadly now the size seems to be turning away that same community.
I have reduced the size of my PF drastically this week just to make it easier to manage.
I agree with so many statements above….we dont want to winge!! we just want our friendly ,easy to use site back!!!
mychaelalchemy
the old way was easier to navigate the site, not to mention when I saw my own comments on the overview page I knew that is where I needed to start to look at others works….
I liked the navigation area on the left as it was and then let go of the clutter of images on the right, it is distracting rather than complementary
some new additions though would be to add an “edit “button on comments you make to others…
also, in the writing section, there is just a straightforward format only,
when, in writing poetry, sometimes its effect is in how it is seen on the page

After an RB update in late Feb. I’ve been unable to reply to any emails….VERY frustrating. The send button does not work. I don’t mind change but I do when it doesn’t work well or not at all. I do like the new page layout in our personal My Bubble’s. Thanks for your efforts in letting the people speak and hearing our input. No matter what you do, not everyone is going to be happy but your attempt at hearing opinions shows great people behind RB. Please fix the Email snafu.

Thank you Peter for listening and agree that the group news is a problem with the new way now, andI know you had to do something about it , being sent in a personal bmail.. maybe setting up a “GROUP MAIL”, like the personal mail is an answer??
MICKSPIXPHOTOS
Thanks to Peter and all the RB admin for listening to us. I appreciate it and I really appreciate the page numbers being back. But I still don’t understand the reason for the whole right side column. All I can see it doing is taking up space that in the old format was used for info that I now have to click too many buttons to find. At the risk of being redundant, why not go back to the old look, eliminate the clutter and bring back simplicity ?
Lisa Heacock
I prefer the previous format.
However, I am near to my end with Redbubble even though I pretty much just started here a few months ago, ONLY because of all the error pages and timeouts and inability to leave comments on peoples pages without having to copy and paste them 15 times in a row before it actually stops bringing me to an error page. I cannot even favorite a piece of work most of the time without the same issue. Not to mention my bubblemail does not work to allow me to bubblemail anyone anymore. I’ve had to try multiple times to upload work and consistently reach error pages that way too. Same with posting writing entries or journal entries.
At first I thought this was a problem with my computer, or server…but I have my art up on another site, Zazzle…and I very rarely in the past 2 years have ever had any error pages or problems of that nature there and I use that site every day. Infact, I cannot even remember the last time I had error issues there.
I really enjoyed my beginning time on the Bubble because I love the ideas and the groups etc. here as well as the way you set up your galleries, they look awesome! The best around in my opinion. I am hoping that this constant error page issue gets resolved.
Also, I really like the new group mail set up. So much better than logging on to having 25 bubblemails to sift through. I can just look on my screen on my bubble and read from there. aweome = D
thank you Peter and all the others from RB for listening

Don’t give up on RB. I believe better days are ahead. This is the best site and when we get over the snags, it will be even better!

This journal has 906 views! I want to thank everyone for making this a group effort, including the president, Peter!
A resolution can ALWAYS be achieved with diligent effort and we will all be proud of this site once again!

I am frustrated over how long it takes to upload art to groups. It seems to take forever and then it will get timed out. Also, I would like to have my mailbox show me updates, challenges and voting, like the old way. I would also like to see challenges have a cut off as to how many artworks can be voted on. No one has the time to sit through 50 or more to vote on. It would at least give people a fair chance to get a vote. If you are one of the first people to submit your artwork to a challenge and they give you a high amount of images to vote on, those people who first will almost have no chance of their artwork being see’n.

May I say what a relief it has been on here today! The pagation has in my opinion, rectified what was the worst new feature. The replies to my comments and comments on my work being together, i can live with now! Today has been stress free bubbling, and I am upstraight with comments, viewing, started 2 new challenges in 2 groups. A joy to be here today! Thank you RB :O)
BleuRaven
hi !! i am adding your journal to my favorites so i can come back and spend more time reading the comments. where is the petition, will you give me the link ?
BleuRaven
i found the petition in your writings :)))
BleuRaven
ok i’m back :)) i’ve read your other writings and some of the comments, and i am in agreement with you !! i was away from RB for about 4 months and when i returned i was overwhelmed at first by all the changes, and i had a real challenge learning how to navigate the new system.
i really like the old was much better, the group Bmails and challenge events, the way MyBubble was so much easier to follow and keep up with new works, my watchlist, etc. and i really liked the Activity Feed so much better than the current one.
there seems to be so much “silence” in my mailbox now LOL
i don’t have a clue where to find all the group mail, i mean i see that feed, but when i click on it, only a few recent mails come up, and it’s hard to see any more than a few dozen without the system just freakin out, i don’t know what happened, but the activity feeds are challenging to find you know what friends are doing and what groups are doing.
i’m resorting recently to clicking on my commentors profiles and viewing their works and commenting on theirs, and a lot less on the people i have on my watchlist simply because i have no idea how to stay abreast of their activities.
i can see i have my homework to do to learn more about this new system
dogbreath
i would like to see the old format come back!
Braedene
Everyone has said so much – which i completely agree with – bring back the ‘old way’. I find the ‘new’ way not nearly as user friendly as before – Can’t find people unless I scroll for ages and I have not bothered to upload much recently because of this . Liz
ej29
Bring back the old….It was fun and much easier and you always knew what was going on…..I miss so much with this new way….please put it back!!!!
Cheryl Lunde
I would like there to have a way to return to specifically where you started after looking at an image when using the back button. Page numbers at the bottom of the page would be nice so that you can return or choose to view any image out of order ( or by memory) if you would like instead of having to again scroll through the entire list. I would also like to fix the time it takes for images to load on the page. I do enjoy being able to see comments with clicking on the image and the news on the right side is also nice. Thank you so much!
Jerame * replied
Improvements were made since yesterday. I think what you are asking for is already done. It was the most popular request and RB jumped on fixing it! Check and see.

I as well am experiencing an extreme decline in comments and feed back, things are not working properly, i do not get all the notifications from people on my watchlist. My main problem is the speed though, MAN the site is soooooooooooooo slow and that is VERY discouraging, have been uploading less, commenting less etc…...I wonder what the motivation is behind these changes, I wasn’t aware there were problems in the first place! the ONLY thing I like is that the groups come by alfabetical order but I’m very happy to trade that in for some real activity!
RB please,,,,,,,this is a complete failure…...please restore what you have destroyed and we’ll never talk about it anymore ;)

I’m back again…..and a hair’s breath away from pulling out of all the groups as when I open my page…all group bmails are choking my page!
Please go back to the bmail group system where we had a choice of read or trash.
I love my bubble comfort zone and now it’s so cluttered and messy with stuff I don’t want or need to see…please, please…..go back to the old system or at least give us the option of closing all the stuff we want on our pages!
The page numbers are a welcome change now, but please unclutter as it’s choking my page!
Jerame * replied
Some people complained about getting group mail in their regular bmail, others say the new way is annoying. That issue is very impossible to make anybody happy about.
I say if group mail is annoying to a person, they should leave the group. There’s no way for a group host to communicate with the members without annoying SOMEONE!
Shanina Conway
I’m not in that many groups Jerame, but what is happening is that when I open my page, all the bmails from my groups are partially opened with snippets of all messages viewable…consequently my page goes on forever!...this doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does it’s not pretty;)
Put the group mails in the config settings, if and when we want to see them we can.
Luann Ryan
I would love to have the old overview page back, but with one major change…...
If I have clicked on an item to comment/view/reply, rather than put a check mark next to it to help me keep track of where I have been and what I have done, just plainly drop that item from my overview list. That way as I look at images make comments etc, my llist of things to do gets smaller rather than larger.
Also the feeds could be improved to be more manageable and flexible
1. Don’t lump the comments and replies into one feed separate them.
2. New work should be separated by
a. images
b. Tees
c. Journal entries
d. writing
e. calendars
Thanks for listening
Luann Ryan
Oh yea one more thing, bring group bmails back, I remember when the little G on the envelope was there to tell that it was a bmail from a group. I like being able to tell the difference. Or have the personal mail and group mail in separate areas.
Thanks
Yool
JUST PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD SYTEM AND ALSO THE EDIT/DELITE BUTTON WHEN REPYING (i make a lot of mistakes :)))

I’m going against the grain here. I like the new system. For me it works well. I’m finding that once I set it up the way I like and use it best that it works well. I love that mail from groups doesn’t fall into my bubblemail, its much easier to ignore the crap this way. I’m finding works that I would have normally missed through the “you may have missed it” section.
Jim DeMore
“If it ain’t broke….don’t fix it” Who was unhappy they way it was. The b-mail was enough of a change to last me a while. i love the old format of may page. Everything was easy to find…...I had no complaints. Can someone tell me why it HAD to change?

I like both RedBubble formats ways perfectly well. Neither the one nor the other is complicated for me. Maybe that is because I am a “youngie”! But I do not make sales any more (except one time recently I sold a few things to a friend) whereas I used to make some sales. I don;t know why I don;t make sales any more. =(

There seems to be quite a few people here happy with the new setup! Personally, I don’t have a problem with it in itself. The problem I have is that most users seem to find it difficult to navigate and therefore all views, comments, faves and sales are drastically reduced.
If most people can’t use it, it’s not good!

We aren’t finished! Everyone needs to stay on top of this to get RB to be the site that you love and keep as your first choice to exhibit your work online!
We need to stay on top of commenting on others’ work so that everyone stays encouraged!
Come on, all the other sites don’t compare to this one! So let’s keep making this one better.
RB = you and me! Some people have emailed me to say that they support all the efforts but they aren’t the “public type” that speaks up. So we have to work extra hard for the shy ones!!
If RB fails as a great site, it’s Peter’s fault, it’s my fault and it’s your fault.

Delete my Group: I leave and take all my work with me.
PERIOD!
As to the other stuff, like everyone has been saying: Why fix something that wasn’t broken? The new layout and design absolutely sucks! I don’t care if you add the first line of a comment on my work. I don’t care to see what i might have missed – I don’t miss much that captures my interest – who the hell are YOU to tell me what I miss?
All these people bitching about Group Bubblemails! What the hell are you talking about? I am part of many groups and NEVER have I felt spammed by the 10 Group Bubblemails I might have received per WEEK!
But NOW, I have no clue what’s going on within groups unless I actively seek out the stupid forum structure. I wonder how many announcements have been missed by Group members because of this wanking new system?
Comments down? YES! Because this new system makes it difficult to see new work from my watchlist. I assume it’s the same with my work.
Finally, I have to disagree with Jerame about the failure of RedBubble being partly OUR fault. If an artist is actively participating in RedBubble, then they are doing their part. If the webmasters screw things up to the frustration of the members of the site, then it’s THEIR fault! PERIOD.
Jerame * replied
You’re right. We have to stay active to encourage each other or we have to hound the webmasters to improve things if we don’t like it! My point exactly!
Thanks for unwittingly making my point.

The main thing for me is the comments and replies being together – being a host for 5 groups gets a bit of a nuisance when I am receiving lovely replies to my comments made and then trying to find comments made on my own work – it all gets lost and is a bit hectic – I preferred the old way on this subject as then I could read the replies as my leisure! Although I like seeing them in the feed that is helpful but really would prefer them seperately if possible!
I find I am missing a lot of my friends new works and comments have defiintely dropped in the last couple of weeks – I like to see what my friends and other people on my watchlist are adding – I really have cut back the time spent on RB due to work now!! I would like it to me a little more user friendly in some ways!
I have often mentioned the need for a search bar in our own ART pages scrolling through to find my art can be infuriating sometimes, also a search button for Hosts in our groups would be wonderful when featuring after challenges and when making a member a featured member – that is where I would like to see a little change or 2 :))) And of course hosts being able to look at voting in challenges – I don’t ask for much for me but as a host life could be made a lot easier!!
But so far most of the changes seem pretty good :))
Jerame * replied
Thank you, Pam!

Hi there…..I think that you had to actively search out what the groups were saying by going into your Bubblemail before the new group news system was added, you just have to scroll through a few pages to find out what the Groups are upto…...Not a lot of time wasted at all…...In my own Opinion…............and the What you may have missed is Utilising what used to be a Dead space before…..and I know that a lot of people have been noticed more because of this added bit…....x

Oh ya one more thing. Just something else to say!!!!
I have sold a handful of calendars and have had alot of complaints on them. There are no holidays on them. This needs to be added not sure if it can be done. But I am sure there is a way and if RB is really paying attention to this then I thought what the hell this is a good place to post that!!! HHAHAHAHA!!!
Thanks Mr J. I think what you are doing is really good….Kudos to you my friend and kudos to RB for listening!
Jerame * replied
I’m sure the problem with printing holidays on the calendars is the fact that they are shipped worldwide and every nation/religion has different holidays.
That might be a complicated mess. Maybe, they could have the buyer select the country’s holidays in an option format.

I think change is a good thing sometimes! At first I couldn’t find a thing after the new changes were implemented and it was frustrating; but now things are looking up!

I didn’t care for the changes at first, but am learning my way around them, I like that comments can be seen on the first page, and don’t have to clikk on them to see a comment.or reply, saves time..
I think if we give it a chance and learn the trails it will be OK. I missed lots before too so not much difference.

Yes that would work. But if you lok at the calendars you buy from anywhere like Staples or Walmart they have international holidays on there as well! Jerame – it’s not so much me unwittingly making your point for you. MY point was that we are already doing OUR part by being active in redbubble.
If all I did was upload work and never make comments or respond to comments or speak up to make my opinion heard, I am STILL upholding my part of the deal here.
Redbubble should stop changing things for the sake of changing things and make the same effort to PUBLICIZE the site around the net. It’s to their benefit as much as it is to ours.
THAT’S their part of the deal here.
Instead, it seems that, with the changes that nobody likes and the threats of having Groups deleted, they are only going to accomplish a reduction in the number of artists on RedBubble. Because it sure appears that they want to chase us away…
Jerame * replied
True uploading work is fine. But if you never comment on other work, you aren’t supporting your fellow artist. That’s selfish.
The more involved you are with other’s work, the more it helps to encourage other artist. That’s what’s great about this site.
Nancy Chambers
I, like grannyjune, like the older fomat that rb used. I find this more time consuming and don’t find all works from my watchlist as easily, and end up missing some, etc. It may be that I am just not used to it yet. :)
ooyayootay
That’s an opinion, and I respect that, but it’s beside the point. The original point remains: All the artist is required to do to uphold their half of the bargain is to upload work. RedBubble is set up to SELL that work in various forms, not as a social networking site, regardless of all the social networking that happens here.
And, just for the record: I am VERY active with comments and encouragement of others’ work. Just as I am grateful for the comments and encouragement of others for MY work.
If I cannot see any new work from my friends and watchlist, how can I participate with comments and encouragement? The new changes make it extremely difficult to see and be seen when a new work is uploaded.
Jerame * replied
It may be set up to sell but I’m sure most people on here use it to comment and have comments. This place really doesn’t sell a large quantity of anybody’s work. Even though, I’ve sold some work, I don’t even care about selling anything on here. I mark my prices high anyway!

I like that the page numbers are back. It’s so much easier to navigate around the site.
I was wondering if it would be possible to add when each photo was uploaded, ie I upload a photo today and the date uploaded will permanently stay next to the picture.
ooyayootay
LOL!! I mark mine higher than average, too. I have made 3 sales, myself.
When i first joined RB, it was to sell photos. Period. The contacts, influences, encouragement, and comments/critique were all frosting.
It’s certainly changed now, as I want to know what people think of the work before I print it up and submit it to local galleries, competitions, etc.
This is a good place for that. It WAS the best place for that. The changes in the site have only facilitated in changing my opinion of RedBubble as the best place to be as a barometer for the popular appeal of the work I have submitted.
I mean, HELL! We could all be over on Flickr . . .

Welcome to the REVOLUTION!
jo beerens
Wanting things back the way they were is hardly revolution. I don’t see RB going back to the old interface. I think small adjustments will be made to the current layout to improve some things (like the page numbers) but in general this is it. Too much has been changed to go back and the Mybubble page change is a part of changes RB is making to the whole website. For example the Groups pages will be changed also.
Keeping the above in mind Jerame my question to you: if the old RB isn’t coming back what should be changed to the current setup to make it better.
Jerame * replied
It has been improved since the petition was started and I like the effort RB is making to satisfy us. The revolution has accomplished things I’m happy with!
Ask Peter what changes have been made in the last 24 – 30 hours.
Thanks, Jo.

I like that new widget that shows some pics you might have missed from your watchlist and their faves. I’ve found some cool stuff. I understand some people’s concerns about NSFW images going up there.
I think my biggest beef withthe new format is that the activity feed seems to not work as it used to and the site seems slow. This has affected how many people contribute which makes it even slower. No-one wants to play in an empty playground!

@Jerame
True the biggest grieve of most people has been met (the page numbers) but other than that I haven’t seen any change.
You didn’t answer my question: if the old RB isn’t coming back what should be changed to the current setup to make it better or are you still of the opinion that we should go back to the old RB setup?
Jerame * replied
I answered you. Changes were made that I like. I’m sufficiently satisfied. I want everyone else to be suffieciently satisfied too because it affects the greater morale and makes this the fun place it used to be.
I joined RB because I thought it was fun. Nobody’s paying anyone to sign up on here. You do it because it’s fun. It stopped being fun and I spoke up. It’s getting to be fun again.
Why are you on here?
red addiction
There is too much to say but I can say this, I’m so f** frustrated with not getting the comments I used to. My views are waaaaaaayyy down. I’m sad and I’m angry. Put it back the way it was. I’m not having fun anymore. All Im getting out of this experience is pains in my neck and a god damn headaches everyday over this. I miss my friends, I miss the fun!!!!!
Jerame * replied
Hang in there. Things have and will continue to improve! The fun is coming back!!
jo beerens
Different people different desires. Meeting them all will be impossible. Good to hear you are sufficiently satisfied.
I am here to sell under the motto ‘decorating the walls of the world’. No I am not expecting to get rich (in that case there is more profit when you print and sell yourself) but for me it is already rewarding if somebody buys my work and hangs it on their wall or sends it as a card.
Jerame * replied
You’ve found your purpose for being on here. I have my purpose for being on here. I hope everyone else does too. I’m glad you do too.

sorry RB due to time constraints I am not commenting on as many works I used to, fed up with time out errors, have seen significant decrease in views and comment on my works to the extent I have not uploaded any for quite a while.
I agree with most of the comments on this page. I quite like the new layout, slowly getting used to it as everything is running so slow these days.
What are we doing to market the site to the big outside world to increase the artists on here sales revenues. I made more in one week knocking on a few doors than I have made in 3 years on RB. This is not a get rich quick scheme…..lol
I am getting lost in the maze these days, and cant seem to find half of what I am looking for.
RB also needs to look at its base prices and perhaps offer bulk discounts. I have just gone into wholesaling my 2010 calendar collection (proving to be very successful) I can order in small volumes at very cost effective prices.allowing me a mark up to wholesale to retail outlets and so on.
There are quite a lot of problems with both the old and new format but not being computer savvy can give you no suggestions as to how to do the fixes.
I for one will bear with all the changes and certainly will not be leaving RB in the near future.
Positive note to RB
with the number of members the site has and the vast amount of artwork – YOU ARE DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB.
Will put this into my favourites for future reference.
Sarah Moore
I agree with everyone else above…views/comments/uploads are down considerably. I remember reading at some point that RB wanted the site to have a Facebook feel…but recently Facebook have changed their format and I have noticed that no-one likes their new changes either…less people are logging on and commenting etc as you are bombarded with ‘stuff’ now similar to here.
Groups seem to be suffering the most here…with hosts finding the system of communicating with members ineffective…I myself have sent out a couple to my groups and have had NO responses at all…whereas before I would have at least a couple at least.
I don’t mind the new layout of the page…its clean and efficient…but I agree with the others about not having the NSFW in the new works panel.
There are many older people who are finding the site difficult to navigate around now and are frustrated by the changes and I know that they are looking elsewhere for places to put their art. This is such a shame as the RB community as a whole is an awesome place to be.
I will persist…but with little activity in my monitor it’s disheartening.
AndyGii
I’m sorry RB but you got it wrong this time. Although a few of the changes are an improvement the overall effect of the new format seems to be change for change sake. The views on my work have dropped from record and climbing levels to where they were in my first month on the Bubble.
I joined to have my work viewed and commented on and to experience the work that otheres were doing. This has become too difficult with the new format
Small changes at a time are better and then only if it will deliver a measurable improvement.
TheWalkerTouch
I only joined on 18/19th February 2009, it seems just before the changes started happening, so I don’t know about the outages or time delays but….
I liked it the way it was when I first joined and haven’t yet seen a change I have liked.
There also seems to be a lot of much lower quality work being uploaded which can only be a bad thing. If art buyers have to sift through too much dross, they will soon be going elsewhere. So far, I have seen little evidence they are even around.

I am now dreading having to go in and deal with my Groups – so time consuming and frustrating trying to navigate and communicate, and my Activity Monitor / MyBubble is way way down – heaps less views, comments, favouritings. Safe to say I am no longer ‘addicted’ !!!
I am getting much more activity on the couple of other sites I visit … the temptation to bail completely is great.
Toss everyone into deep water and a lot will drown. Increase the depth gradually and most will adjust and survive. (Although why we need deep water on an art site is beyond me! KISS !!!)

I love it when a person says the people that have issues with the new setup are blowing things out of proportion.
I’m happy to see improvements due to everyone voicing their opinions. If you don’t like people voicing their opinions, SORRY.
Virginia Maguire
Sorry to all who are unhappy with the new format. I respect your feelings and can understand some of the frustration, but I have to admit, I think the new format is an improvement. I haven’t noticed any difficulties with it so far. I like that I can separate out parts of my overview and just look at comments for example. I don’t see a problem with challenge notices. they are under ‘Challenges’ . I haven’t been spending a lot of time on RB because I’m busy with other projects, but when I’m on I don’t notice anything so terrible. I love that the groups are listed aphabetically when you upload. That’s a real time saver. I hope we can keep the new format with maybe a few tweeks here and there. As a systems person, I know how difficult it is to restore a previous version of an application. I really enjoy RB for the people and the art. The format is secondary to me and I can adapt. Some of the serious problems here should be addressed – slow response time, missing data, etc., but in general I think the change is good.

Now that I’ve got used to the changes, I like most of them. I do think I’ve had less comments, favouritings, viewings, don’t know the reasons. The one thing I would like changed is the Group announcements. As it only shows two or maybe 3 at a time, I often can’t be bothered going back, and when I do, it reverts back to the start again. Is it possible to have a larger list, with just the Group name and a brief topic description, ie challenge, vote, winner, etc?
With the calendars, the feedback I’ve had is that I would have sold more if there were larger spaces for writing into. (Apparently some people still do use them as a diary!) Is it possible to have this as an option? Also, perhaps a smaller desk size calendar?
Thanks for listening, and I’m sure there are many more who DO like the changes, just havent told yo.! Thanks for your continuing work! Please everyone, a little patience, changes are being made.
Love the Bubble!

Suggest cancel all inactive accounts. Anyone inactive for 6 months – delete their work and accounts. Get the membership back down. Promote more centralised discussion – less groups please, I know this is being worked on. limit tags to about 20. Need site wide competition regularly – more productions and promotions books and tshirt cops for all to enter, not just groups. promote it in the main forums.
ArtByDrew
One of the things that first drew me to Redbubble was the clean and simple format which brought focus to the artwork. Clutter is clutter no matter what label you choose to call it, and that is the trend that I am seeing at the bubble. I have accounts on many other sites that have made this mistake, such as deviantART and Zazzle, and I now rarely upload or surf these sites because of the clutter that increases download time.
One of the most important words of wisdom in regards to art came to me from my father, a renowned and successful photographer and graphic artist of over sixty years now… he said “Son, the most important thing about an artwork is knowing when to stop working it and call it done”. This goes for the bubble as well, as the bubble is an artistic endeavor in it’s own right.
Another valuable lesson passed onto me by my father was that ‘the simpler you can make something… the better it will work’. This philosophy is also known as KISS… for ‘Keep It Simple Stupid’.
That being said, the focus needs to come back to the art at Redbubble, because that was the origin of it’s success in the first place!
Peace & Hugz
Drew ;)

Thanks for adding the page numbers back…
I think the “Filter Activity Feed” is the main problem…It looks like some members does not know how it works…or maybe too many clicks?...
How about let this feed open?...more space used on the page…but maybe it would be easier to use…visible all the time…more acitivity …
I am loving to be able to read the comments and replies on my activity page … please do not turn off this option …
sorry for my english…:)

I like it the way it is. the only thing I would like to see. Make less work for the host of groups. there is much repetitious work with the images when moderating and doing the challenges. Some us is getting pain in our hands and arms from working the mouse so much.
Features and being Avatar in winning a challenge is getting old.
Need something to spice up the challenge winners and features. BigD
DesImages
There are some things I lkike ablout the new layout – the checkmarks and the group news. What I don’t like is that the Groups tab has gone. That was really useful for seeing whether something had been added to a group recently. I now have to go into a group to see whether there’s new stuff or not. I’m not keen on the forums thingy. I’ve looked into the forums a number of times, and I haven’t yet felt inspired to watch any of them.
I’ve also noticed that my views and comments are down. At least one person who had watchlisted me and used to be a regular commenter has left RedBubble. I have noticed a couple of other people who I used to comment on sometimes and vice versa have gone.
A bit more information about what’s next would be great. I think a lot the feedback here indicates that people are worried about what might happen.
Andrea Searle
I loved RB just the way it was… I don’t like change :(
Jared D White
Wow, I’m glad I found this thread!
I thought it was just me not getting views and it kinda bummed me out I’d have to admit. Which in turn has cause extremely low personal RB motivation.
I have to go with Peter on this though, I don’t have specifics. I personally love the new setup and can’t figure out why the format would cause this slump.
If we are all aware of the “slump”, then lets all get out and explore the bubble, dropping some favs and comments as we roam.
Jared D White
Re-reading through the discussion here, I believe the problem is that a lot of folks just plain don’t understand how the new page works.
I suggest a large scale review of this: NEW FORMAT
Wendi Donaldson
I too, am unhappy with the new RB. I have trouble keeping up with new work and often miss many images from folks whose work I regularly follow. Very tedious to track them down now. Don’t like the right side of the page…there are snippets of info there from group Bmails but often they seem to disappear before I can read them…I seem to have access to two or perhaps three messages there. Seems onerous to manoevre to me. I do like the alphabetized group lists…but that’s the only good feature I like, I’m afraid.
AnaCBStudio
it is working fine to me…just take some time to learn who it works…
Wendi…if you open the “Filter Activity Feed” on the right you will see all feeds there…just click new work fand you will see all new works from your watchlist…
about the group news…they did not disappear…...you have to go click order on the botton and then you will see all group news…hope it helps…hugs
AnaCBStudio
opss…sorry…I meant:
you have to click older on the botton …
Waleska Luker
I will love to be able to arrange the order of the features once featured in a group.
Waleska Luker
I also think that it will be great to be able to take away a work that has being accidentally favorite out of favorites. Also in order to better arrange the list of preferred items. Furthermore, to separate the written work favorite from the pictures, sometimes I have a hard time finding it. And once again, it will be great to be able to select the order a work is featured, for example, I feature a work and them realize I wanted it to show first, its hard to go in ascending order. Thanks!
Waleska Luker
How about for the challenges? It will be nice if there was an option to feature a work right from the challenge top ten directly there, instead of having to go back and forward to find where and if the person included their works in the group. Thanks once again. It will save time and make things better.
sunsetrainbow
It’d be nice if group rules could be looked up from the edit art page. Who can remember the rules to every single group they are a member of? Some groups only want a certain number of works posted in a given time period for example.
ooyayootay
I’m changing my Webby vote. This is becoming pathetic!
Rachel Stickney
In the forums in the 100% group, Ursula said “Though strange as it sounds, I actually miss the group bubblemails! I find I’m less inclined to look at the group news (I only happened to notice this because it was on the front page of my group news feed). I would’ve loved to keep receiving the bmails as it made me pay more attention to what was happening in groups…it would’ve been great if there were an easy way to delete messages, for the people who didn’t want to read them.”
I have to agree with Ursula about the group bubblemails. I don’t even remember to look at the Group News, and if I do it’s only the front page. I know I’m missing out on a lot of things because of that.
And I can see that I’m not the only one not reading the Group News. I’m a host of a group with 510 members, yet the most recent group news item I sent out (five days ago) has only 35 views!!!
RB people, please come up with a better option!
And I think that RB is less fun now, it’s harder to keep up with my watchlist’s new work.
Nala
I loved the old style and i could find what i want and see what’s new and comments etc , , just lost interest in finding my way about so have to go to friends pages and see what they have done and comments etc , , , just no longer using it as i did , , , , do not like

Remember the old saying if it isint broke don’t mess with it ,if we do we can cause it to be broke ,so now we have to fix it
Kay G Larsen
While I am just now finding my way around on the new site, I still miss the old style and yes, comments have dwindled down to practically nil and I have to go through so much to get where I’m going that I find myself not participating like I once did…
BarbL
I, too, miss the old site but do appreciate a number of the improvements. Love the alphabetic order of the groups but when I click on a group and go into it, and try to return, it goes back to the top of the group and I have to scroll down again to where I left off. It is so frustrating that I find myself visiting the lower letter groups rarely.
Also, as far as the challenges, there are sometimes so many entries that I don’t have time to look at them all. I feel bad because I could (and probably am) missing some great work but time is limited.
Do appreciate that RB wants our feedback!
Luca Renoldi
Only a question
Why there is not difference in the Groups list, between closed challenges and open for entry challenges ( both are without icon )
Blair Wainman
Thanks for your work Jerame! I never saw this before but will comment here! In the year that I have been with RedBubble, I feel that RB has grown way beyond the capacity to manage the site! That was perhaps some of the reason for the changes. I decided not to say anything until I had given it a chance to work. There are some aspects which are easier to view at a glance (ie) my groups! But I feel less connected to what is going on within people! There have been a number of improvements. For instance I love being able to edit from the public view section. I also like alphabetical order of the groups. It’s so much easier to scroll down alphabetically.
One issue that I sure would like to see resolved though is the way that winners of the challenges are determined in the case of a tie! I sure don’t think it’s fair that the first entry gets penalized in the case of a tie. What difference does that make? Why not declare a tie and the two, or as in my case on one occasion – three images all be winners. It’s misleading when it is communicated that the winner is being declared with the same number of votes as the second place or second and third place finishers…or at least include the number of votes with all the contestants so that people will at least know the real final standings!
Emily Loughnan
Have a function to be able to “select” and “delete” group messages that you dont need to read…I get hundreds of messages that are pointless !
Deborah H. Benoit
I agree with Blair. And this site is so slow it takes forever to load work and that becomes aggrevating. I know it must be difficult to please everyone. But when you have a site like this then you need to make it so it runs properly and fairly fast, otherwise people loose interest. I know that I have as a rsult of the slowness of the upload or your work not being seen by others and no one comments.
luanda
I like so much the new format grephich and the fact that it’s easier for me selecting an image for a challenge, but I really don’t like I can’t no longer post any message to the Groups’ forum (I’m always asking to my frinds if someone wouls explain it to me, but I learned they srtuggled hard on doing it too, without any success). After that, I don’t find so much confortable I can’t save ANY changes on my writings…I can’t stant it! I don’t have so much spare time to delete them and write them again! TNX A LOT 4 SHARING!
tasadam
Hey, I can add to this.
Things that I dislike are below, the rest I like…
(1) When editing an artwork, in the list of groups with all the check boxes to join work to groups, it would be useful if these group names were clickable so it’s easy to get to the group rules to see if a work is suitable for that group. It would then be easy to launch that group name in a separate tab to check the rules. Currently I have to have another tab open listing all my groups, then go to each group in yet another tab and check rules…
I started a suggestion topic for it some time ago, here
(2) When editing works, the Save Changes bar is way down the bottom – if you are just doing a quick update to the description, you need to scroll right down to the bottom below all the groups you are in, and all the pricing info to make the save.
Would be useful to have a Save Changes link at the top as well.
(3) A preview of comments would be useful so it’s easy to check the formatting, of links etc. Currently the only way to do this is to copy and paste into Bubblemail and do live preview (but don’t send).
Hope that helps.
Stephen Vecchi...
With the new format I haven’t had less commments or views…quite to the contrary, I have been receiving more than before as well as getting more sales!!! So let’s leave it as is RB, OK?

I don’t like the way my bubblemail inbox is setup now it’s way too confusing!

I thought it was me! But as I can see there are so many others that enjoyed the old way better! Please bring it back! Thanks for starting this!

I have a MAJOR problem-
For ME. I CANNOT tell which of my works I have in WHAT groups!-Unless I want to edit all 300+ images. I really find that a major pain and I am NOT a complainer. I also do not like the new bubblemail inbox set up. Sorry. I am a tad disapointed with the server problems (experienced again a day or so ago). I do LOVE RB!
