The swing set: Once the beloved
hangout of choice, now cold,
she sits in her solitude –
remembering the days of old.
She can still hear their laughter,
and feel their strong embrace.
She closes her eyes, and remembers
each one by name and face.
The visions are still fresh;
their sweet breath still fills the air.
If she squeezes her eyes real tight,
it’s as if they’re still there.
