Rose-Coloured View
Saccharine were the lies
I bought
The ones I’ve been living on
To nourish my soul
With life
What’s in a friend
When the honour of trust
Is broken
With every heart’s
confession?
Is there more to life
Than living
Within the lies that are believed
In order to get through
A day?
What colour goggle
Should I wear today
In order to be able to stomach
Breathing
This toxic air?

Smething reebllion againt the bitterness…but than…bitterness need to be countered with swwetness of the thoughts…soul…life always look fo sweer exploration…I believe you have that power JDB
I am wondering how we really see the world: as it is or as we want to believe it is. Perhaps it’s our romantic notions that entrap us in the majority of our disappointing moments. I just don’t know anymore. :/

The romantics always get burned the worst. There’s just something about hopes and dreams that engulfs the soul with a gasoline and matches combination that gets rubbed from time to time… lucky, though, our Spirit is there to quickly relieve some of the vapors before a fire consumes our very being. But, when the alarm bells go off and the fire erupts… oh the horror. I hope that everything is well with you, Jenifer, as this seems as a bit of a departure from your usual dissertations. Remember… though our world is seen the way we want to see it, we often must view it as it really is. It can be unbecoming at times, but it surely is better to have good look at the brutality that can exist, so that one can take an educated stance rather than to have the dishonesty creep up and bite ones ankles and not let go. We don’t have to live with other people’s lies, but it sucks when they burn us deep and the Spirit takes longer to quench the flames… but deep down, you don’t have to live with the lie, the liar does. As for the goggles? Something with UV A/B protection and a polarized lens should do. We can see anything in this world, but to stare at the sun and the wrath of God is not a good idea. Sunglasses do help… just don’t stare too long :)
Somehow, despite my despair, you’ve managed to make me smile. Wonder where I can get me a pair of those UV A/B goggles with the polarized lenses. Man, how overwhelming are these lonely feelings when they hit so hard? This, too, shall pass.

This poem raises some very important questions about life and frienship. You’re a wonderful poet =)
Thank you for such an honor-filled compliment. And, yes, the questions raised within this piece have me digging deep for answers.

Why is this in journals? You should submit it as a poem!
I thought about that. Wonder if I can just change the medium, or if I have to repost it.

Hmmm, I didn’t think about that. Maybe just do both! ;)
