Crater Lake, Cradle Mountain NP
This shot was taken in the first 5 kilometres of The Overland Track – a 65km walk from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair. We are grouped in the lucky few who had 5 out of 6 glorious days on a track that is known for its rainy days!

Just brilliant. You are very lucky indeed, when I was there it rained every day. It was hard to capture anything decent with dull grey (not even stormy sky) and the light was always washed out. Having said that you still capture the scene brilliantly.
BTW thanks for your comment on the white waratah. I don’t know if the festival is held every year. The festival was sometime in September. Give Mt. Tomah Botanic Garden a call.

Fantastic image Jennifer the colour, cliffs sky and rocky lake bottom really add up to a fantastic scene. Did the overland track in Jan 1989 when it was wallow through mud and then again in July 1998 when it was a skate on ice covered duck boards and snow, where we had the huts to ourselves every night, awesome walk.

Beautiful colours, composition and so crisp. We’ve been there many times and just so lucky with your weather!
