A Katoomba local with his pet cockatoo. She’s 2 years old and named Flossie! She seemed quite content sitting on her owners knee… even with all the festivities happening all around her.

Taken outside one of the cafe’s in Katoomba during the Winter Magic Festival this year.

Finished in the top ten of the ‘People I have met along the way’ challenge in the Mood and Ambience group.

    amazing photo

  • Thank you annamora! Her owner was a bit coy… but was happy to talk about Flossie… She just sat there quite oblivious to the going’s on around her… : )

Just a wonderful shot and great B&W subject choice Jenny:))

  • Thanks Ralph. I actually shot this in colour… but I thought it really should have been B&W… so I converted it (first time using channels). I was lucky to get this for 2 reasons… 1. very crowded and well… you know what it’s like in these situations and 2. I had my 70 – 300mm lens on!!! So getting back far enough and then not getting anyone in the frame was very interesting…! I was fairly happy when it worked out… : )

A great shot Jenny, the B & W really adds to this pic and they are such great characters.

  • Thank you Andrew. I really liked the colour version too… but just felt it was really suited to B&W. First time mucking around in PS to make the conversion using channels instead of the instant fix! There are some great characters up there in the mountains… : )
