Gathering Storm... Tuross Lakes NSW

It’s been an epic journey to get this on to redbubble! I mean how hard can it be to take a photo… well… first there’s suitable light, then there’s the question of getting the colours to look like the actual painting…..

So… it’s not perfect, but it’s pretty close now… but… then there’s actually uploading it! I’ve been trying all afternoon… so if it works this time I’m having a celebratory glass of wine… lol!!!

Anyway, this is a painting taken from a photo taken around the same time as “two little girls… tuross lakes”. When we camped there that Easter there was a lot of rain and storms… pretty much every afternoon. So this is just another one of them…

For those who are interested… Tuross Lakes is situated on the South Coast of NSW.

Just realised that I haven’t put in the technical info… so here it is for those interested…

Oil on canvas
61cm x 91cm

Plus I’d like to thank you for viewing as the thumbnail doesn’t really show it very well… : ))

  • Karen Tillotson

    Karen Tillotson

Fall is definitely arriving here…getting cooler especially at night, more rain, so most fires are completely contained or out now. Yes I expect you’re getting ready for another bad year on your side of the world. They’re saying we’re in for a milder and much drier winter here however…which doesn’t bode well for us next summer. Take good care Jenny.

  • JennyMac replied

Seems like the same the world over… climate change?!? Take care too… xox

Another splendid image Jenny. (I used to spend a lot of time at Tuross as my parents lved there for about ten years.)

  • JennyMac replied

Oh wow… thanks Harry! I used to spend a fair bit of time there years ago too! My parents love to go there for a break (even now) and we often spent time down there with them. I used to love to go to the Tilba Tilba Festival at Easter… but haven’t been for quite a long time now! Keep talking about it as we don’t live that far away… better get our act together me thinks!!! LOL! : )

An exceptionally effective light and cloud, landscape painting. Beautifully painted in watercolour? Whatever teh mdia, it goes in my faves!

Ah, yes. The importance of a good camera, to get it to look the the original, I use a Nikon D60 and take several shots, using different white balance and aperture settings, then choose the closest like the original. But ones and zeros, will never look look like paint and water in natural light!

  • JennyMac replied

Thanks Colin for your thoughtful comment and the tips! You also reminded me that I hadn’t put any details about the painting. It’s actually painted in oils and the size is 61cm x 91cm.

I use a Canon 350D at the moment and I experiment with white balance and try to pick the one that most closely looks like the original… but sometimes the colours still seem to not be quite right! With a bit of fiddling they are pretty close… but gee… I wish I didn’t have to fiddle…lol!!! Maybe I should try a Nikon?!?... All the best..: )

Beautiful work Jenny. The sky is great and then the horizon plane gives it all a grand scale. There is almost a suggestion of a genie type character swirling up
    into the sky.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a great comment guntisjansons! Wow! A genie!!! There’s magic in the air… : )
