From Darkness
From Darkness
Scratching fingers
catch the hair;
branches
wind bowed.
cold and raw
roughened bark
to pluck the sleeve
tweak the scarf
blown high in
a sharp gust.
Mischief afoot.
Winter Solstice
hides a gift for you.
It comes in small packages
Little by little,
day by day
Listen for the light
Turning, renewing,
lighting the darkness
again.

That’s this winter alright, nothing placid or traditional about this weather, this is like the forest in Brothers Grimm!!

I love the shapes of roots and branches in the spiral, the textures and tonal range. It looks like a primeval growing. :)
