Kuranda birdworld, far north Queensland. That eye isn’t sharp I know but I kinda like him anyway!

stunning Jenny, such a beautiful bird, very intense eyes! and I certainly wouldn’t want to be pecked with that beak, despite its gorgeous colour. Its amazing how well camouflaged the Australian parrots are in our natural bush isn’t it.

  • Thanks so much Suellen, this one sat on my shoulder along with the Macaw and a little sun conure most of the time I was in the birdie place. It was soo funny cos it imitated laughs and that of course made me chuckle and it would copy exactly my laugh, which made me giggle again, and so it went on!! It was great cos I’d been really down in the dumps and it just made my day!

    Nicely captured expression, Jen!
I’m pretty sure these aren’t Australian parrots, though!
BirdWorld has a large number of exotics as well as local species – all chosen for their striking features!

  • no it’s an Indian ring in !!

That sounds so nice Jenny, lucky you, I would love to have them sitting on my shoulder, I imagine the macaw was totally magnificant (do they bite much?) I saw a video recently of a parrot that had been raised with a crying baby and it did an extrememly good imitation….glad the bird doesn’t live with me, now that would be depresssing, but it also did a kiddie’s giggle, that was awesome, so infectious. There is nothing like a good laugh to cheer you up is there, hope you are feeling brighter now, I think you must be, it shows in your images

  • no biting but this and the macaw were a little rough on the camera bag! It has a lot of missing bits now!!
