Although I am forty seven years old, I am a young artist.

I learned to draw about four years ago as an aide to planning and designing my sculpture. I had always envied people who could draw, but I thought of it as something people were born knowing how to do. Some people are, just as some people seem to be born knowing how to play the piano by ear. But most people learn to play the piano through practice. That is how I learned to draw—practice, practice and more practice.

Once I started down the drawing path, I just had to learn to do a likeness. And eventually having mastered that, I wanted to add color. As most of my favorite artists are watercolorists, it was a natural first choice.
