Lord of the Water

Jennifer Woodward

Lord of the Water

Edited in Photoshop Elements.

A layering technique was adopted to create the patterned background of this image. The stone face was also a separate image merged in. For the face to appear visable, I employed a low-level opaque background eraser brush to remove the centres of all the images apart from the stone face. I also used the same brush to remove other parts of the images used in this work to create different effects. Finally, to create the feel of water, I used various colour filters, colour burn and tweeked about with the hue.

My other works, “Lord of the Fire”, “Lady of the Lake” and “Tranquil Beast” were all created in the same way. I had loads of fun with these!!

Comments much appreciated!

i wanna learn to do this kinda thing . any tips ? this is brilliant by the way , is it dolph lundgren?

  • Jennifer Woodward replied

Thanks nigel – no, it’s not dolph lundgren – not sure who the face is of. I found him on the side of a castle in Derbyshire.

There’s a brief description for how this was created (top right), but bubblemail me with how far along you are with photoshop, and I’ll try and help you out with how to layer.

I actually have two versions of this – Lord Of the Fire (also in my portfolio) is the other. The only difference is the colour – it’s strange how just that produces such a different feel. Thanks very much for stopping by!
