St. Ives
A photography-based artwork, with effects created in photoshop CS2
I set out to create an aged feel to this piece by adding sepia tones and layering textures over the top. But as so often happens, I got carried away in a different direction when I noticed the piece taking on a more painterly feel.

This reminds me of the song “Little Boxes”
” Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.”
Jennifer Woodward replied
I’ve never heard of the song but from the lyrics, I can see why this reminded you of it!! Thanks for stopping by! :)

This is really cool, the lighting and texture, and when you study the sky, it starts to change into something stranger and stranger, the faces appear in the dark swirls and the pointy roofs below somehow seem sharper, Oooh I just got a chill! Delicious!!
Jennifer Woodward replied
I see what you mean… I never saw the faces in the sky before! Many thanks for dropping in!! :-)

The textures and treatment used are outstanding! As an image all of the feel of an old town that was lovely painted is conveyed! I think it would make a great book illustration or cover for some romantic or mysterious story set in England of yesteryear!
