All of the people I never knew...
I’ve been creating a few images based on old poetry recently, most of it being really dark, not because I’m still haunted by old memories, but because I can now look back on the words I once wrote feeling peacefully detached from them, I’ve moved on and it no longer hurts to read the words, also they’re a source of inspiration to me where words seem to fail me these days, fuck, I can’t even string a simple, creative sentence together to make sense… This piece is a lighter image, sometimes the darker stuff has a way of sucking you into it a bit, so I’ve taken a break from it, this image is quite minimalist in comparison to more complex pieces of work, but I think it still sets the mood and feeling of the words I’ve written…
Best viewed large I think. :)

Excellent Jen. x
JenniferB replied
thanks jane, variety is the spice of life I guess… ;-)
Anne McGinn
i totally get the feeling about this one – I have often felt that way about myself… not now, thank god, but in the not too recent past… well done
JenniferB replied
old words and feelings, new image. :) thanks Anne.
trwoody
Interesting that you have them all walking away from you too. A strange feeling to be alone in a crowd. Nice image to go with the words….
JenniferB replied
thanks trwoody, i wanted to create a sense of separatism and isolation in this one, it almost ended up a blank canvas! ha!
Mark Ramstead
This kills me… in a good way…
JenniferB replied
makes you wonder about all the people we never get to meet and know… So many people walking this planet, thanks mark.
izzybeth
Dang, Woman… I miss a lot of folks too… Every one is a little rotten, hon. OK maybe a lot rotten.
JenniferB replied
It’s the people we never get to know that I’m curious about, so many souls wondering the planet we never meet. :)
izzybeth
Oh yeah, I hear what you are saying. So many people to meet … places to go… love to love.
JenniferB replied
so many to meet, so little time to meet them in. :)
Tracey Mac
Love your thinking here Jen….......and the artwork is so soft and wistful…....
You made me sigh….....know exactly what you mean and love your interpretation x :)
JenniferB replied
Thanks Tracey, it can be tricky working out how to use space on an image with longer pieces of work, so sometimes I just take key words or sentences from an entire poem, loving your photos too, and you look so pensive and beautiful in them! :)
Sticky Flower
I reckon they’re missing you too.I love this.So clever the way you’ve used colour and effect to carry the words. They do seem to be strangers inside a thought or a dream :-)
JenniferB replied
thanks sticky, these are poems I did previous, low res images of that I’ve hidden to redo. :)
Shanina Conway
Wonderful thought process and I love your soft tones…although I did enjoy your venture into the dark side;)
JenniferB replied
Oh the dark side is still there within me, waiting to creep out of the shadows again some time soon. Thanks Shanina. :)
rubyjo
ahh quite creative, both the words and the image.
JenniferB replied
thanks rubyjo, a bit of a diversion from my recent pieces, but they say that a change is as good as a holiday. :)

geeez ??? i went to the grave yard and dug up a dead body that had been dead ten years what did i find? it still stank,—-let sleeping dogs lay, or they may bite you again pasturm est mortum ,pairow, rimemborium et allius romian
JenniferB replied
Hu? You think it stinks? lol… oh they’re just sources of inspiration for images is all, a creative outlet because I haven’t been able to write anything new for a long time, inspiration can be drawn from both the past and present, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that a person is ‘dwelling’ on anything or effected by it, well, not in my case anyway.
rjcolby
Well worth thinking about these nice words as well as appreciating your imagery, Jennifer.
JenniferB replied
Thanks rjcolby, something a little less complex for a change. :)
Anne van Alkemade
“I miss all the people I never knew” really says it all. I love the image and the whole approach Jennifer. As much as I like your intense, multi layered stuff, this image really works for me big time. And I am so surprised at your description! Only because I feel it resonates with my experience at this point in my life too. xxx. I hope your muse returns soon, but in the meantime, this art rocks. xxx
JenniferB replied
Thanks Anne, I appreciate your encaouraging words, the poem to this image is an old one that I previously created with another image that I didn’t like, so I’m just redecorating some old poems in a sense. :) xox
Wendy Slee
THis is a beautiful piece of art – love that spaced out feeling, like there is illusion, distance, mystery – and yes, indeed what a thought provoking statement….
I find meeting a new person like picking up and reading a wonderful novel…... like a story personified…...all different to my own story, all worth taking the time to “read” and honour….
but having said that…here’s another thought…..
The most facinating person you will ever meet (and get to know) is the one in the mirror….....
JenniferB replied
haha! I’ve spent a lifetime getting to know myself and though I know it’s an inifinite task, I’m more than a little bored with myself now, reading ‘other’ people is so much more intriguing, and I never tire of the life stories people have to tell, thanks so much for your insightful comment wendy, and yes, that sense of illusion, distance and spaced out feeling, was exactly what I was trying to achieve with this combination of image and words. :)
Matt Roberts
Glad you’re able to look back on harder times and feel peace :)
Keep up the good work :)
JenniferB replied
yep, I’m no longer the me I used to be…. I’m much naughtier! ;-P Thanks Matt, still going to get around to reading those intriguing tales of yours, so many distractions lately!
Helene Henderson
I hear you, girlfriend—I was just thinking about this the other day in regards to myself. Nice work!
JenniferB replied
Thanks helene, it is a weird thought to think of all the millions of people walking this planet and that we only meet a handful of them throughout our lifetimes… Makes you wonder about all of the people we don’t get to meet and how we might have gotten along with them… or not! haha!
Helene Henderson
It does, and I think of how I changed so much (for the better) over the course of my life and who I might have been friends with in earlier years if I’d been more like the person I am now.
JenniferB replied
Ah to be given a second chance at youth again from an older but wiser perspective… ;-)
Rachael Gorton
Simply brilliant!
JenniferB replied
Thanks Rachael. :)
PeteStreet
Like an anti-greeting card, so refreshing from the “god’s richest blessings” crap! Think you should go mainstream with this one. Might make a lot of folks go out and buy stamps again!
JenniferB replied
Hu? I’m confused by your comment, my brain is shitty at decoding metaphors and cryptic messages, meaning you liked it or it didn’t appeal to your taste? Either way, I appreciate your taking the time to view it and comment. :)
PeteStreet
I love it, Jennifer! Somehow you always seem to be able to say it best!
JenniferB replied
Glad to hear it, though I’m in awe of your talent so any constructive feedback would have been noted and appreciated too. :)
