My home is looking like a junk yard, lol, if I hide away in my bedroom, the only clean room in the house, little elves might pop out of my delusional brain and clean it up for me. Thanks aglaia, I always love your warm, heartfelt comments. ;-) xox

    Mark Ramstead

Then you are so over it! Welcome back! XOXOX

  • JenniferB replied

not really, but that’s the amazing thing about the internet, you can tell crappy jokes and feign a smile with an emoticon, and nobody knows that you’re feeling like shit! lol, I get over it pretty fast though, and painting it away helps.

  • Mark Ramstead

    Mark Ramstead

right here is your current majik… i’ve found by exploring these feelings/moods while i’m in them is better medicine than any doctor can perscribe….... make your moods work for you.. not the other way around…...... control the chaos…..... b

  • JenniferB replied

true, art is very therapeutic, but it’s the writing that has me stumped at the moment, ah well, at least one creative outlet appears to be working.

    This is amazing….truly amazing artwork….
I hope this is hanging in a gallery dear Jennifer because it should be….AND with a good price tag on it!
(On a more personal level, you truly have captured the essence of this misunderstood and so human condition)

  • JenniferB replied

thanks Wendy, nope, no gallery, it’s just kicking around on a stand in my living room, I don’t know, I’m a bit superstitious when it comes to selling Art, it feels kind of like selling your soul to the devil, LOL, but maybe I just have a vivid imagination. Thanks again, your comment is really appreciated.

When I get like that there’s only one thing I can do. Stop thinking about it and waste some time enjoying myself some way. If I get into a cycle of thought that’s getting me nowhere, or not turning up any conclusions there’s no point in thinking about it anymore and even if I can’t stop thinking about whatever it is it at least I know I should and try to put my efforts into something worthwhile.
Ok so you’ve figured out that you can’t figure it out, now what are you going to do?

  • JenniferB replied

Ok so you’ve figured out that you can’t figure it out, now what are you going to do?

erm… waste my time and energy whinging about how I can’t write? lol, thanks tyf, your advice is reminiscent of Bukowski’s famous quote where he said “Don’t Try”. :-)

  • Dwayne Boyd

    Dwayne Boyd

You’ve commented about when words fail you, a painting will have to suffice. Well, these paintings are woth thousands of words, my friend. As I’ve said in the past, whatever means you can use to get your feelings expressed in a healthy, constructive, manner…do it! You kick ass!

  • JenniferB replied

aww thanks Dwayne, I’d still prefer to find my muse again though, maybe I need to kick some of these pills they’re asking me to shove down my throat.

This is art, strong, powerful, beautiful, should be in a gallery….........you don’t need a job. you need an agent…............

  • JenniferB replied

Thanks for your encouraging comment Ulrikeart, I consider myself as being more of a writer than artist, art fills the gaps where words should be.

    Helene Henderson

This looks just like me, sometimes. You’ve really captured a very real image of depression here.

  • JenniferB replied

Thanks Helene, yep, I can feel the same way sometimes too, I went through a spell where I dabbled with paint and tried out different techniques, but the novelty wore off after a while. I’m more of a writer than artist I think. :)

  • Helene Henderson

    Helene Henderson

It’s too bad the novelty wore off, because you are so gifted as a painter!

  • Songwriter

    Songwriter

You do have a real gift at portraying emotion which lots of people feel. It is a great talent and a benefit to lots of us I’m sure. :0) Song

  • JenniferB replied

Thanks Songwriter, I prefer to write rather than paint or do photographic work, but I’ve had the longest spell of writer’s block ever… it’s soooo frustrating!

  • Varry

    Varry

The subject matter, composition, palette and emotion in this painting just oozes off the canvas, brilliant JenniferB!

  • JenniferB replied

Thanks Varry, I’ve sort of had short stints of trying different areas of art out, but I’m way too undisciplined to learn how to do any of them to perfection, I chop and change styles all of the time. :)

  • Varry

    Varry

LOL,Thats the joy of being artistic JenniferB,we are are allowed to chop and change…i do it all the time! To change a medium is too explore another avenue and walk on the wild side, lifes to short to stay in safe lane..lol ;-D

  • JenniferB replied

hahaha! Aint that the truth! ;-)

  • Naomi O'Connor

    Naomi O'Connor

This is a fantastic painting. So much expresssion here!

Thanks Naomi, I think I only dabbled in a couple of paintings and then threw in the towel! It didn’t come as naturally to me as writing did. :-)

  • TrishMarrs

    TrishMarrs

The body position says it all, doesn’t it. I haven’t figured out why during some depressions I’m all creative with visuals and others I’m all creative with words. Go figure. Not that it matters since allowing the creativity to flow is what’s important at that moment. Love the way you worked the lights and darks. Well done.

  • JenniferB replied

Thanks trish, for myself, I suppose, you can say things through images without hurting people quite so much when you’re feeling really low, I guess even though it’s another form of creative expression, it’s a little more self censoring… Words however tend to become misread and have the power to hurt people far more, so I guess I’ve learnt to try to channel them in more constructively directions these days… But I was always a writer long before I began dabbling in Art. :)

  • TrishMarrs

    TrishMarrs

You’re absolutely right on that train of thought. I understand. Words have always been my “first love” as well.

  • JenniferB replied

Would love to read some of your writing some time. :)

powerful work Jen,,, earlier this year, I slipped into depression,,, this image resonates so much with me,,,, well done

  • JenniferB replied 25 days ago

thanks midzing, yep, I tend to avoid thinking about negative stuff because my mood takes a huge dip, sadness can turn into depression so suddenly and unexpectedly, do I try to give myself a kick in the ass whenever I feel a funk coming on. :)
