Redknot Migrating Through Fort DeSoto by

Redknots (Adult Summer Phase) migrate up to 9000 miles for arctic breeding and southern wintering. Redknots passing through Florida are thought to breed in the Arctic in Northern Alaska or Siberia and winter in South America. It was my good fortune to see this one alone on the beach, passing through at Fort DeSoto in St. Petersburg, Florida. Nikon D700/Nikkor 500 mm plus 2X Nikkor Converter. ISO 640/ 1/800 th second/ F-8.

I treasure connections with those who are touched in some way by nature’s beauty. During those magic moments, we share a special awe in nature’s presence. We are compelled to see and share. Connections make us who we are and relationships within nature give our lives meaning.
