Change is the Only Constant
And I’m really hoping for a very specific change to come about!
Though I’ve gotten very good at drawing blood, and have settled into a regular schedule (finally!) at the hospital as many of you know, I’ve never really wanted this job all that much. :o) I’m sorry if this offends anyone out there who has been out of work and can’t find any, believe me, I know how hard it is out there and I’m very grateful to have had this job for the past almost 5 months.
But it just doesn’t fit me, doesn’t earn me enough to keep up with all of my bills, and it’s so amazingly stressful! So, I’ve been looking for something else, almost since my first day on the job at the hospital. I’ve been sending out resumes for such a wide variety of positions, some of them have been a real stretch in terms of my experience/skills. All the while, I always said to myself, I just wish I could make a living as a massage therapist. And now, it looks as if that wish may come true!!!
I honestly LOVE doing massage therapy, it is my gift, my calling, one of my passions. (Music and art being the others) :o) I had an initial interview today at a very nice spa at a very nice lodge in town. They have a local clientele as well as guests so it wouldn’t be quite so up and down with the high seasons as the spa I was at last winter. They pay wonderfully, even offer benefits and it’s only 5 minutes from my house. And to top it off, from what I gathered during the interview, they are a good fit for me philosophically. They are very focused on the healing aspects of the work, not the money-making ones. I have an appointment at 4:30 on Monday to perform a massage on the spa owner. One more little test to pass and I may actually be back in a job I can love!
Whoopeee! Yahooo! Wish me luck, send me positive vibes with the ability to perform the best massage ever for this woman. :o)
I have been practicing appreciation for all that is, reaching for better feeling thoughts and always loving what is working. I think it’s finally all coming back to me…..................... :o)

Congratulations on at least getting the interview. That is the hardest part. I will send lots of positive thoughts and wishes your way. :o)

Wishing you good luck for tomorrow Jen, I hope you get the job . . . ‘Giving a massage’ sounds so much nicer than ‘taking blood’ . . . lol
JenLand replied
You got that right Hugh! Western medicine is not really my cup of tea so not having to be a part of it will make me a lot more comfortable. :o) Thanks for the good wishes!!

Aw, shucks! Thanks Jan!!! I really hope you’re right. I’ve spent many years doing jobs that are far from a perfect fit for me and honestly, until a couple of years ago, it didn’t wear on me so much. Must be part of reaching a certain age, heh heh!! My focus has become much more about quality of life. It’s always good to know you’ve others relating to you. :o) XOXO

Scott Bricker
glad yo hear you have the opportunity to maybe get back to massage…Snow King? Good luck with the rub, Jenny…
JenLand replied
Thanks Scott! It’s actually a nice, smaller lodge with very loyal clients. They come back to stay there year after year and there is also a loyal local following at the spa. That’s nice cuz it smooths out the ups and downs of the tourist/ski seasons. I’m visualizing it all right now! heh heh
