Artist's Description

Crim Dell Bridge ~ The College of William and Mary
The most photographed (and romantic) spot on campus.
The area is named in memory of John W.H. Crim ‘01, “who loved the College.” The Crim Dell Bridge was a gift from the Class of 1964. According to campus lore, two people crossing the bridge while holding hands will be lifelong friends; and if they kiss, lifelong lovers. It’s not a myth that W&M students take lightly. Many college couples avoid ever even crossing the bridge together, lest they seal their fate before they’re prepared.
What if a couple breaks up after a Crim Dell kiss? Simple. The young lady must throw her former sweetheart over the bridge and into the water below to break the curse.
Carvings on beech trees near the bridge attest to generations of student romances.
