First of 2 (at least) paintings of Cassandra. In this one I have modernised her and shown her as young and idealistic. Like most prophets and visionaries she was ignored or dismissed as mad. Cassandra is emblematic – she symbolises for me, that time in a woman’s life (usually when she’s older, but often when she becomes a mother) when suddenly she becomes ‘invisible’ – unheard and unrecognised.
Thanks so much Trudi. She has fascinated me for some time. There’s one more to come, be interesting to see what you think of that. It’s quite different to this one :) I’m getting more adventurous with my painting :D so really appreciate the compliment
