behind the scenes
yet without them
there’d be no show
for all the world to see
without the stalk
to hold the rose
the rose simply

These few words were penned in the description box as I uploaded a photo of the same name. Inspired by some of the brilliant macro photographers on Red Bubble, I was searching for different angles and points of view to the usual, particularly in genre and material I am so familiar with. I was seeking to find something new, something different.
And I found both and neither all in the one click of the shutter release.
For what I found in the hidden beauty behind the rose, was the oh so familiar analogy and tale of being behind the scenes, unseen, but working hard to make things happen and appear beautiful, wonderful, effortless, seamless and just work. I first saw this in my grandmother and then in the theatre. So it was when I wrote about grandma, I described her as shining the spotlight on her family and staying in the wings.
So, this is an analogy inspired by a single flower, and dedicated to all those who use their gifts, talents and abilities to work miracles, both large and small, without seeking any credit.
And also to those who work hard without anything at all. Maybe to them most of all, for they see nothing for their efforts; for no one even thinks of them or that they matter.
