And God sings

pink clouds scud across the twilit sky,
above the barren land
a wide expanse
and time stops
just for this moment
the world freezes
wind is stilled
silence reigns
as an orange white light
splits clouds in twain

bathes the ground
the treeless scape
in soft tender glow

touches down
on a lone stone church
washes it clean

life springs forth
and God sings

As I was viewing a wonderful shot of a church, Church of the Good Shepherd, by John Brotheridge, I found myself being drawn into not just the photo, but into the place, the landscape and began to feel I was there.

And the words flowed.

Please check out John’s work. It is truly phenomenal and I would be surprised if it didn’t take your breath away.

An avid photographer, both still and moving, since I was 10 years old, I later discovered and developed a particular love of macro, which is now one of my main genres. More recently, however, my repertoire has broadened to include stained glass windows and particularly the stunning beauty of outback New South Wales and South, Australia.
I hope you enjoy the beauty of the Creation, captured and presented here for you.

Jan this is so inspirational and paints a beautiful scene. The Lord continue to bless you as you continue to bless us with words so precious.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

  • OH Trevor, you words humble me and also encourage me to continue to use the gift of writing which I am slowly beginning to realise I have been given.
If I can use it to touch and bless others for Him, that is more than enough.
Indeed, that is what I am called to do I think.

My prayers are with you as you contue to answer his call on your life!

    be blessed

    Beautiful poem,
God will always sing with every good deed and thought man does, but weeps if our minds and actions are negative.

  • Thank you so much CJ….I agree so much…very true!!! But he also weeps when we hurt or are hurt by others and when injustice strikes.

We have indeed a gracious and loving God.

    Wonderful words Jan!
I love the last line – life springs forth
    and God sings
    – even though I’m not religious it conveys such joy! I can imagine the creator walking off whistling that his creation worked! ☺
    Bravo! ☼

  • WOW! I’m so pleased you like it and even more so because you can visualise the last line so beautifully….and as I read your words they created an image, a visual for me that I had not previously seen!

Is this what they call insight? hmmmm.

Congratulations on being featured in the Living Christianity group!!

  • Thank you so much my friend!!! This time I had noticed and was absolutely thrilled, though amazed and surprised.
But if I always am, then that is right. For ‘my’ work is His.

Well done, a great piece of spiritual writing

  • thank you so much…I don’t think I quite realised what I was writing at the time. In fact, it was almost as though I wasn’t writing, as it just tumbled onto the screen, or rather the scrap of papaer in front of me first….

But I am thrilled you like it.
