Such Love Beyond My Understanding
After returning home following a wonderful and uplifting, life changing retreat where God’s Love totally overhwlmed me in such a tangible way, I felt moved and inspired. So I sat down with my guitar, pen and paper.
The words and music simply flowed and this was given to me, placed in my lap.
I have now sung it a number of times in church and each time I do, it seems to touch someone and mean something very special to them.
Such Love Beyond My Understanding belongs to the following groups:
Living ChristianitySuch love
beyond my understanding
such peace
I do not comprehend
and grace
so undeserving
so big
overwhelming
such love
oh, what love
Sometimes
Jesus overwhelms me
Sometimes
God takes my breath away
And I…
In the quiet of the moment
Know he’s here
And I…..
Just want to stay
Want Him to stay
Sometimes
Jesus astounds me
Sometimes
God breaks right in
And I
Can’t quite believe it
Such wonder
Can it be real?
This Love I feel

Oh thank you so much Hilary…thank you for the compliment, but I don’t think it is really mine to accept, as I don’t really think the words (or music) are mine. They were gift.
But I’m so pleased you were ‘humming along’. That’s absolutely wonderful and lovely!
By the way, I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but we have a mystery flower in our garden which no one seems to be able to identify. I’m wondering if you, in your vast botanical, flora and gardening knowledge and expertise, can identify it for me please?

Indeed your comment is truly moving Julie. Many many thanks for such overflowing affirmation.
This was written at a very fruitful time when I was churning songs out around one a week, maybe more ~ so I don’t think I truly apprecitated it at the time; but as is often the case, it was a season in many ways…a time when I was truly released into a music ministry in a powerful way and God truly lifted me, enabled me and, in his strength I was able to sing and play in a way I never had before or since.
But at least now I still have the songs I wrote but didn’t then use very much. THis is a season for singing the songs, rather than writing them.
I do still write some, but they are fewer and further between.

Sharon, thank you so much…I really value and appreciate your comments as they carry so much weight in my humble opinion. I’m about to register this one with CCLi actually. But Colleen Close will be able to tell you about it.
