The ghosts of Gilderoy come galloping by
with swift and deadly moves
horses mounted and guns slung over
their saddles they ride straight and true
And oft in the morn as the early dew rises
and swathes of mist blanket the land
a sound can be heard, a distant thunder
as they gallop and make their stand
For many a year has passed since that day
When brother by father they fell
As a duel with the devil they used to call gold
Called them one by one down to hell
And e’er since that day of terrible toll
their souls have restlessly sought
to find the riches that escape them still
and for which they so foolishly fought
So if ever you see them riding by
on such a fine morn as this
Bid them halt and look around
At the treasure they had but missed

wonderful story , beautifully written and very visual as all good stories should be, well done. hugs
Oh thank you Hilary! So nice to see you again. Quite amazingly I really like it too…it just unfolded before my eyes, albeit with a bit more conscious work and thought from me than usual. But with the inspiration I had and images it evoked, it was relatively easy.
I greatly value and appreciate your comments, judgements and thoughts.

Wonderful work Jan – I really enjoyed reading it – my imagination was racing with the horses
Thank you Bev.
I don’t think there’s anything more greatly gratifying to a writer (and maybe I am one??!? : O ) than to hear people enjoy reading what you have created.
And from a writer such as yourself I truly value and treasure your comments.

wonderful piece, sweet Jan :))
Amazing story!
N xx :)
So glad you like it Nat…apart from Di Jenkin’s wonderful visual of the same name, I’m not really sure where the story came from; it sort of unfolded as I wrote somehow…I’ve heard of that before but never experienced it quite this way.

OH EXCELLENT! ☺
Bravo! ♥
Yet again, many many thanks for your encouraging words and affirmation. I love it when inspiration emanates from the stunning work of fellow bubblers and the words just come almost without bidding. So rewarding…but even better to receive such wonderful words from some of the very best, such as yourself.

See you can do this too! :O)
Scary when that does that huh? No one believes you either – until it happens to them!
Now you know how I feel when words just flow, swamping me! lol
and you have done this so well!
BRAVO! X♥X
THank you thank you thank you thank you thank you….so very very much. These words from you mean more than I can truly express Alyssa…Just came back from sending a bubble mail…which may be somewhat confusing to read.
Yes. I can do this, somewhat to my surprise. But when you sort of get used to the words tumbling out, it’s both a privilege and a joy to be able to affirm and credit wonderful photographs and art works of other and brilliant bubblers.
But I must confess, with this one, although the words tumbled out to begin with, I spent some time working on honing and crafting them so they would truly pay tribute to Di. Also, the idea for the story came as I was writing thus dictating the form it should take.
Somehow this was even more gratifying to know that I can actually do it myself…and not just ‘accidentally’.
Hence the impact and importance of your HUGE AFFIRMATION!!!
THANK YOU MY FRIEND.XOX

Oh yes trying to order them is soooo much fun! lol That’s why sometimes when I do it in a comment box it will be better edited when I upload it in my writing folder and when they get tooo long & start to take over a page (lol) I cut them from the comment box and edit them then go back and just add a link in the comments! lol
Now go try writing a story – it will be fun!
But remember you were encouraging me in the beginning – remember – so it’s just a nice chance to pay you back :O)
Chookas! X♥X
PS and indirectly but from your encouragement the EEG formed! So it is only right you should come be a part of it! :O)
wow!!!!! I had no idea at all the part I played or the encouragement I gave….that’s so humbling, and I don’t know, almost thrilling, spine tingling, grin making and I guess in the end, compliment taking! lol!
Hmm there I go again?
Be warned, you may have unleashed a monster here!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS! from Australia! You’re Standing In It…
Just excellent Jan!
OMG!!! I’m stunned but rapt all in the same breath!! Thank you for this huge honour. I’m stunned and humbled, for this piece wrote itself. Somehow Di Jenkins emotive photo brought vivid visions of yesteryear to mind and the words simply flowed onto the page/screen!?!
Thank you so very much!!
