pensive and still frozen in time looking without seeing downcast eye . thinking hidden thoughts self contained a penny for them but she is restrained . retreating within inside to think to wonder yet at peace she is still . do I know her is this the One the theotokis mother of the Son
Jan I love this pensive is the right word. Where were you when you took this? Vicki
Hi Vicki, I was immediately drawn to this beautiful sculpture when I saw it in Glasgow, though I can’t remember exactly what museum it was in. But we went there to see a painting of Jesus of St John of the Cross by Salvador Dali which John has always loved and longed to buy a print for about 15 years. It’s not available in Australia. I just checked and can tell you it is actually entitled ‘Modesty’ and the sculptor was Giosue Argenti and is dated 1886..xxxxOo
I can see why this sold so fast, it’s STUNNING!!!!!!!!! Very very nice indeed!!
Hi Julie…I’m so thrilled you like it too…! was totally entranced and spent quite a bit of time on the photo shoot! lol! I thought it was only 5 minutes or so but totally lost track of time. I’ve got another couple from different angles etc which I think I’ll upload too. But yes, I’d have to put it right up there as one of my all time favourites ~ not to be biased or anything of course! lol..xxxxOox
Thank you for your generous compliments Trisha. I loved this sculpture which, as you said, is flawless. It/she simply demanded to be photographed!..xxxx
this is just flawless! Incredible, emotive composition, purity of subject, pefectly shot. SUPERB!!!!
Again flawless..I couldn’t agree more. And yes, it was that and the emotive and pure portrayal of a young woman which shone in an otherwise dark drab corner of the gallery which drew me to photograph it. And such praise coming from one such as you speaks volumes…thank you so much…I am truly humbled by your enthusiasm and detailed feedback my friend..xxxxOOoOoxxxxxxxxx
WOW!!!!!! THank you so very, very, very, very, very, very, very VERY much my friend!! [~anyone would think I was pleased!~ THough the compliment goes to her, not me at all. I’m just pleased this will mean more will have seen her!..xxxxOoox

wow! she is gorgeous. I keep wanting to look at her.
Thank you so much…I must confess to being rather taken with her myself. I spent ages snapping her, in fact I lost count how many shots I ended up with. And the trouble is they were all wonderful. A beautiful model!..xxxx
Would you look at the pristine condition of that beauty! Astonishing
Hi Tahnja. I’m thrilled that you like this lady. I must confess to being rather captiviated by her beauty myself, and love the way you’ve described it/her! Thank you for the compliment…xxxx
Such a marvellous statue! She is very, very beautiful.
Isn’t it? It’s actually just a bust, you know, head and neck. But stunningly beatufiul and she simply begged to be photographed…and she was such a good model too. Didn’t move once while I circled her clicking away and zooming in, taking macro shots. The lot!..xx
Jan, this is absolutely beautiful! Well spotted and well captured.
I’m not sure when you left your wonderful comment about my shot of this sculpture, ‘pensive’, but i just wanted to thank you and also apologise for not doing so earlier. I truly value your affirmation and encouragement.
