Beneath newly released fronds
of the grevillea,
tiny scrolls hide humbly
in the shadows
shining the light on the ones
to whom they gave birth.
The parents’ joy and delight
is watching their children grow
and blossom!

gevillea flower 4 or 5 cms in length. The ‘scrolls’ a few mms wide and .5cm in height or less

An avid photographer, both still and moving, since I was 10 years old, I later discovered and developed a particular love of macro, which is one of my main genres. More recently, however, my repertoire has broadened to include stained glass windows and particularly the stunning beauty of outback New South Wales and South Australia.
I hope you enjoy the beauty of the Creation, captured and presented here for you.

GEORGOUS!!!! Jan, this is so pretty!! Your macro photography just blows my humble mind!!!

  • Hi Julie…thank you so much. You are too kind. Really you are. I think you know that any ability I have in this area is not my own, but given to me. And therefore I have a responsibility to use it, share it and give it away.
Oh, and of course I have fun along the way!lol I think when one has a passion for something ~ and practises heaps as a result ~ it shows. I’ve always maintained that talent in anything is 5%, the remainder is practise and plenty of it! But I am indeed humbled that you like my macro work so much…it gives me great joy and delights me.
Thank you for your generous affirmation my friend..xxxxOo

Breath taking and so admirable to watch nature take its course. Your capture of this picture is beautifully done, and the history of this lovely creature is enjoyable to read and learn. You educatated in with this whole scene. Thanks and keep the work coming.

  • Thank you so much for your wonderful, detailed and encouraging comment. I’m so pleased you like it. And I promise I will keep them coming for I love this style of photography. It reveals so much and shows me the beauty of nature which is otherwise hidden from my/our eyes. Thank you again..xxxx

love the title! such gorgeous scrolls.

  • Thank you so much Marion…I didn’t mean to focus on them, but when I realised I had, it seemed the obvious title…and I realised we usually focus and concentrate on the showy flowers themselves, those in the spotlight, rather than the ones who quietly slip away, having served their purpose and enabling the beauty of these flowers to shine…A bit of an analogy with my grandmother, in fact I think all mothers and parents in general.
I’m so pleased you like it/them..xxxx

    Gorgeous macro Jan.

  • THank you Sharon. I’d actually taken this back in early spring and tripped over it (the shot I mean) a couple of days ago. I recall I actually didn’t think much of it at the time, but rethought that and uploaded it with fingers crossed.
I must admit it looks heaps better on the bubble!!!..xxxx
