I take my burdens
down by the riverside

and sit
a while
and pray
at end of day

my worries
I let go
burdens
I hand over

for down by the riverside
Jesus sits by my side

I find peace
I find stillness
of heart
of mind
of spirit

and leave
uplifted
carried
and held

to start again
to keep on going
with new strength
and a lighter load

An avid photographer, both still and moving, since I was 10 years old, I later discovered and developed a particular love of macro, which is one of my main genres. More recently, however, my repertoire has broadened to include stained glass windows and particularly the stunning beauty of outback New South Wales and South Australia.
I hope you enjoy the beauty of the Creation, captured and presented here for you.

Gorgeous, love the calming, shoothing feel.

  • THank you my friend…I’m so very pleased you feel what I felt. A beautiful still summer evening after days of rain is often so special in the contrast between the two. When the wind stills, the clouds clear and sun shines again, it’s like a fresh beginning and a new start. Everything feels new, calm and soothing!

So pleased you like it!!…a little touch of down under instantly transported up and over, from Summer to Winter!!! How awesome is that? :O

you seem to spend a lot of time beside the water. keep it up results stunning

  • Well, yes I do spend quite a bit of time beside the water; I can’t help it, as our home is on the river bank!!! lol
But even if it wasn’t, it holds a particular fascination for me and I would be drawn to it, as I always am wherever I go, particularly with camera in hand.
I find it peaceful and restful as well as fascinating and ever changing, even by the minute. The colours, light, reflections and movement provide plenty of photo opportunities and subjects, as well as being a wonderful focus for stretching myself & improving my photography.

So, yes, I will keep it up, in the hope that the results will prove worthwhile and of increasing in quality/standard.

Thank you so very much for your affirmation and encouragement John. xxx

I like the feel generated by looking through the gum tree, and seeing the gum reflections from the opposite bank. Your writing is superb.

  • Thank you Enivea. I’m glad the composition works. I liked the look of looking through the bow of the branch, but hadn’t quite put that together with the reflections of the same type of tree on the other side if that makes sense?
But thank you possibly most of all for your lovely words about my words!!! I really wasn’t very confident that it worked, as I just wrote it as it was/is…sort of a personal journalling or recounting and they don’t always translate well to others. I wondered if it was too introspective to be read by others.
So your compliment means everything to me.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you. xxxx

What a lovely and peaceful setting and captured with perfection! Your writing is such an inspiration, Jan.

  • I’m so pleased you can see the peace of this scene. This was my aim, my goal, my hope. To be able to share the special feeling of this place as was present late on this day.
So, I am thrilled that it seems to be so. I doubt there would be a greater compliment you could give me….oh except for the words about my writing!:O
    inspiration???

Oh my, you flatter me so…(and it will get you almost everywhere!!!) lol

But thank you for your wonderful words now, and all your support, encouragement and affirmation through the year. You live out Ephesians 4:29 beautifully Marie! xxxx

Lovely work Jan in both the scene and words. To have somewhere like this to sit and unwind is magical.

  • hello my friend. Thank you for your lovely words Bev. Having somehwere like this is truly a privelege and blessing which you can forget all too quickly when you live with it outside your door, on a daily basis. By making a point of going on photographic expeditions along the river bank it returns the original joy and delight this setting brought me some years ago . xxxx
