a thorny question
a thorny question
a mute point
a thorny person
must be adroit
avoid the piercing
of their opinion
avoid the telling
tough sharp question
why do thorns
have such a name
what did they do
to get the blame
for what others do
and who they are
for arguments
or verbal spars
they sit there quietly,
minding their business
of protecting their plant
and that’s only fair isn’t it?

Oh thank you so much my friend for your pointed comment!lol
So glad you like it…as its just a little out of the ordinary…or actually, it is ordinary, but usually not the stuff of photographs. At least, not mine!..xxxx

Thorn in my side gorgeous, well done with this and the explanation xxxxxxxxx
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Hi Carlotta…thank you so much for stopping by the leave a lovely comment…a thorny one at that!! sorry…couldn’t resist, although I’m in danger of rapidly descending into cliche!

Normf
Best thorns I’ve seen for a while!!!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thank you Norm…they were little newbies. Well not quite. Maybe adolescents without the hard crusty edges, still soft inside and out and not yet weathered and toughened.
Innocent? hmmm innocent thorns! I wonder if that’s an oxymoron?
But whatever, it was fun shooting them, quite fascinating to see what the macro lens could.

Brilliant!!!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
now really Bev…that’s a bit over the top isn’t it?? I mean in the grand scheme of all things red and bubbling we really should put this in perspective…
But hey, what the…I like it!!
So instead I’ll simply say thank you!!!
But in all seriousness, don’t expect this to be here too long. It’s not really one of my better ones, so shall probably soon be replaced!! But I do appreciate and love you persistent loyal optimism my friend!!!...xxxxOox

Jan, the capture something as clear and close as this, to have it in focus and the position it as you have … combined with the poem, is what I thought was brilliant. It may not be a great scenic shot or a beautiful flower but you handled the challenge and presented it beautifully.
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Oh now I understand what you were saying in that one simple word and must thank you even more…though I do feel a little as though I was fishing for compliments a bit. I’m so glad you like the poem, shot and composition and feel it combines well. Thank you very much my friend..xxxxOox

I shall leave all witticisms to those who can do it so much better than I and simply say how much I love the thorns on rose bushes, especially some of the species ones, which have spectacular thorns and quite dull flowers. So please don’t be disparaging of this shot, it’s a goodun’!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
haha!! I think they’re fascinating too actually, and am always fascinated at how they look at different ages and stages, with the oldest being the most interesting, cragged and well worn by time. Hmmm another analogy there?
I’m so pleased you like the shot, which has been sitting gathering dust for sometime. Thank you very much for your kind words and explanation/philosophical viewpoint my friend. I really do value your opinion and judgement..xxxxOo
