bedraggled
bedraggled but resilient
she reaches high
into the light
up to the sky
seeking to find
that love so long lost
that love she abandoned
that love she tossed
like flotsam and jetsam
it floated away
leaving her scarred
never the same
though lost and bedraggled
she still stands tall
refusing to buckle
beneath it all
beneath the weight
the hurts
the pain
of love once lost
with nothing gained
except the strength
and a wiser head
that says
move on
start again
and
don’t waste
this brand new day!

Hilary, thank you so very much. A bit of a different angle for me I know, but I was inspired by one of the flower group ..can’t remember which one…challenges, but didn’t judge this worthy of entry. As always, it was great to stretch myself in new and different directions.
As for the writing, well, that was another of those which simply came as I went to put something in the description box.

Great perspective Jan!!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
So glad you like it Elaine…but I can’t take much credit for the idea. I pinched it from, I think, the Flowers in Macro group who had a challenge running on flowers from underneath at the time.
I never entered though, as I knew this was not up to standard.
But thank you anyway…I decided after seeing the result of a new angle, that I should try this perspective more often in future!

Leave it to the women to be pillars of strength!!! Great piece Jan!! ;-)
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
lol! But oh so true Julie!! It seems we do tend to carry much of the burden and provide the strength needed I think….
but then it’s no surprise is it!! ;)
So glad you like it….the words just tumbled out as I looked at this very torn and tattered daisy and tried to work out what made it attractive.

Great pic Jan and great writing too.
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Oh thank you Sharon; what a lovely comment! You’re so kind and sweet to comment on my writing as well.
The words just tumbled onto the screen as I contemplated what made such a torn and shoddy daisy attractive to the eye and worthy of attention…
Then I realised it was in its essence, a metaphor. And before I knew it , ‘it’ became she!!! :O
Sometimes, almost all times these words and writings are given to me as gift. <><

Great capture!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Oh thank you so much…but I tend to think of a good ‘capture’ being something that’s been ‘caught’ by the camera lens, while moving or a fleeting moment…but I guess it doesn’t have to be, does it?
So glad you like it saseoche!

Love the writing….so true and the capture just fits it
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Hi Schock! Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving such a wonderful comment.
Amazed that you find the writing so true…I wasn’t really sure about that.
The pic came first and the writing emerged as I was uploading, about the write something in the description, and then inspected this tattered, bedraggled and less than photogenic daisy.
WHat was there about this flower that made it worth photographing, and indeed, appealing to the eye?
There is value in all, not just the beautiful…and this doesn’t just apply to people, I mean flowers….

beautiful!!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Oh you say the nicest things…always…poupoune! Thank you very much…and I’m really thrilled that you like it so much. Particularly as its been languishing on my hard drive for ages, as I’m ashamed to say I judged it not pretty enough or perfect enough to upload, for public viewing!! :O
What a life lesson this has been for me! hehe!!

This is so beautiful Jan….so fragile and yet strong. To everything there is a season. Hanging in there one more day, taking it one day at a time. Never giving up. Perfectly matched to the wonderful writing!
