squares and stairs

Squares and stairs
angles and bears

Whenever I walk down the street
I’m ever so careful who I meet
And if I don’t like them
Or if I’m scared

I run and hide in the angles and squares
and climb the stairs
to hide from the bears

with apologies to A.A. Milne

Well spotted Jan, great use of angles and obliques, light is great too.

Thanks Lee. Yep, those angles really caught my eye and I simply had to get a shot or two of them. The lighting was an added bonus.
    So glad you like it.

wow, that’s amazing and the text goes so well with it!!!

lol!!! Oh you’re so sweet and generous in your comments. Thank you so much…what’s that saying? Oh I remember, “Flattery will get you everywhere!” ; )

But the words just popped into my head as I was in the process of getting ready to add it to my profile/portfolio.

lololol… great writing!!! I love this photo!! ;-)

  • Jan Stead JEMp... replied

Thank you very much Julie. This was a hotel we stayed in for a few nights just recently and I simply love the interior architecture. Externally it is a wonderful old building. And most of it is a faithful re-creation of the original, but with little areas like this…

It simply begged to be the diva-like subject of my photography, so I obliged!lol

The writing just ran through my head as I was uploading and I just wrote it down in the description space…very little work on my part at all, so I feel unworthy of taking any credit for it at all….more A.A. Milne that J. Stead! ; )

Terrific shot Jan…the lighting fabulous and the geometrics fantastic :)

Thank you CJ…my apolgies that I haven’t had a chance to go in and check out your latest swathe of submissions, but will as soon as I can.
THank you for your lovely and detailed comment. You are constantly encouraging.
I simply could resist taking this shot as I loved the design, angles and shapes. I can just see an architecture student having fun making a cardboard model of it and letting his imagination run riot!

fabulous matching of image and writing.

  • Jan Stead JEMp... replied

Many thanks Marion…I’m rapt that you like i…or rather, them!
One prompted the other. Title for the photo came first and the writing simply carried on where the title left off.

Fantastic shot Jan, the perspective is excellent and your words suit this perfectly!

  • Jan Stead JEMp... replied

Many thanks Elaine. It was an easy shot, hard to go wrong with such a subject. And the words just came to me when I hit on the title.

But I’m soo pleased that you approve of and like them both.

apolgies that I haven’t had a chance to go in and check out your latest swathe of submissions ‘tis ok my friend…we are all busy. Love the shape of that building too and yes, architecture students would have a field day on that one :)

  • Jan Stead JEMp... replied

I hadn’t realised I’d submitted quite so many works, but I think it was a bit of a breather from the 24/7 of Olympics coverage. As much as I got sucked in like most people, I also became overloaded and also somewhat frustrated when they would leave a nailbiter of a match to go to another or to the swimming, just to watch the nailbiting walking out and waiting of swimmer before the race, and then interviews after.

So I must have needed quite a few breaks!
Also I’ve just started a new job which has been taking up the other hours of my life…(what life?)

Only saw some of the equestrian events of Olympics and not much else…not really into sport…was when younger…but so much of it on tv these days…I just don’t watch tv…only on in background as noise to cut the silence…I should listen to music instead but forget to do that…lol…habit I guess.

All the best with the new job…have fun & enjoy :)
