This is so good it almost seems… I can’t tell… “Is it live, or is it memorex?”
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Hi Lee…yes it is real, taken in my garden yesterday morning…I don’t even know what ‘memorex’ is?
? -)

splendid reflection in the drop!!!!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thank you…I thought so too. I’d been having some trouble with my macro over the previous week, so was very pleased to see that one worked.

Nice Shot! Love the reflection in the waterdrops!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Hi Gail,
Thank you for your kind comment. The reflection really caught my eye when I uploaded it on the computer.

Marion Chapman
beautiful
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thank you Marion for the compliment…It’s hard to improve upon the perfection of Nature, isn’t it?

Bev Woodman
So dainty and so pretty!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thank you Bev. I hadn’t thought of it quite that way, but you’re right…it is dainty.
Macro shots constantly surprise when I see them translated to the computer screen. For I then see through the eye of the camera lens rather than those of my own eyes, which have significantly less range.

Great macro Jan.
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thank you Sharon. It’s not quite what I was intending, but then I’m tending to become overly fussy and demanding a lot of both myself and my camera.
So I’ve begun doing a bit of dreaming and looking at an SLR and closer macro lens…its a genre I love, my fav I think!

Fantastic reflection and macro work.
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Hi! Thanks for your lovely comment and compliment.
I love the reflection but am a tad disappointed in my macro work; but then that is a constant at the moment…just trying to improve my technique further, but I suspect what I want to achieve cannot be done without buying new, closer lens!
So, I’m very relieved and pleased to receive your response.

“Is it live, or is it memorex?” was the tagline for a brand of tape recording cassettes. (remember those?)
:)
Incredible pic!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
oh yes….I think I recall that dimly from my 3 years of living in the States some many years ago.
Apologies for not picking up on that! ; )
Glad you like the pic tho’

I love how it is just hanging on!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
oooh! I like it!
Would you mind if I pinched it and changed the title?
Thanks so much for your great comment.

Love the reflection in the drop…good capture :)
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
So did/so I!
I was amazed when I spotted it. But this was almost the only one of a number I shot that morning. It was actually a very frustrating exercise, so to find a gem like this amongst the uploaded shots was not only rewarding, but a relief!
I never tire of the miracle of the creation!

Beautiful macro Jan!!! I love the very tiny reflection inside the raindrop!!! Well spotted!
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thank you solar….its rather fun, isn’t it? I love the amazing optical magic of raindrops and I thought this one rather nice.
Glad you like it too.

i SEE THIS BEAUTIFUL, REFLECTIVE DROP OF RAIN FROM THE HEAVENS AND I THINK THAT YOU, MY FRIEND,”REMEMBER THE LORD IN ALL YOU DO, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU SUCCESS.” HIS HAND IS SURELY IN THIS MASTERPIECE FOR ALL OF US TO ENJOY. HOW BLESSED ARE YOU THAT HE WORKS THROUGH YOU IN SOOOO MANY WAYS. LOVE YOU,CYN
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Oh wow!!!!
I can barely believe what I am reading…you are so amazing and so sweet to say such beautiful things.
It is the Lord I see in such midget miracles..hence my passion for macro..and in the creation/nature.
And my constant prayer is that he will be seen and made present visible and real to others through me.
All I want is to be an instrument for his love.
I am indeed blessed!
love you, Jan

Deanna Roberts...
Great – love it :D
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thank you Deanna…but I’m actually thinking I may re-load a cropped version of it. I think there’s too much ‘waste space’ at the bottom and in the foreground, which naturally detracts from the focal point ~ the raindrop with its reflection.
What do you think? I value your experience and judgement in such things.
: )
Deanna Roberts...
You honestly flatter me Jan. I do agree with you though – the focus is the bubble – perhaps crop the rest or blur it and see what happens. Nothing to lose I guess… :D
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
haha…I have just this minute finished working on it and thus far have merely cropped it. I’ll upload it and save the changes, so you can have a look and see what you think…but I’ll take up your suggestion Deanna and have a shot at blurring too.
Easy to do and can be very effective!!

Love the reflection in the drop.
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Serenity, I’m so very, very sorry I haven’t replied to your wonderful comment before now.
You’ve been waiting here, hidden and unnoticed all this time! :O
I love it that you love the reflection in the drop…seems a lot of people do, including me! It was one of the fortunate accidents!!

Kim Davitt
lovely refelctions in the water
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Hi Kim.
Thank you so much…when I saw this pic pop up on my computer screen I must confess to being amazed at what the camera had happened to capture!
So I’m really glad you like it!

o!. the day I could get a shot like this ! woo hoo!.. how beautiful !.. DSC h 9.. :).. you inspire me!.. thank you for this marvel of life. Thank you , Jan. this is in my favorites .. those favorite moments , words and people
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
OH I am so humbled and touched by your words and enthusiasm…
There’s not a lot of difference between the H7 and H9…I’m pretty sure from memory that they both have 1cm macro (rare indeed) and Carl Zeiss lens, also rare and awesome quality.
But this shot was a bit of a fluke and I have managed to get anything quite like it since, no matter how much I’ve tried. But to heed my earlier words, sometimes in trying we forget who enabled us in the first place and who’s the gift giver. When we acknowledge that and allow him to be in the driving seat and just relax, the amazing will happen.
I am so humbled by your wonderful words, comments and favouriting of this piece, even though I must admit it’s one of my favourites too!!..xxxx

yes, I will always remember that.. always.. thank you so much. my memory is quickly fading.. but i do hold on to Him and precious people..

and yet again your magical words, and the way they simply slip off your fingers onto our computer screens, mesmerise and inspire me!!!!...xxxx

David McMahon
Great shot.
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thanks so much David…I’m rapt that you like this one…as it was my very first (digital) macro and almost an accident. I had no idea what would happen when I hit the shutter release button.
It’s just been chosen to go on the cover of a course curriculum too, which awesome and affirming all at the one time…Have a great day!..xx
: )
David McMahon
That’s a great story behind the photo, Jan. And what a great way to find success.
I hope it inspires you to even greater photographic heights.
Jan Stead JEMp... replied
Thanks David for your encouragement…but I don’t know that I need any encouragement to take photos..think I’m addicted. Maybe I unknowingly operate on the practise makes better or greater philosophy. If that were only so!! I’d be at those heights already if frequency meant anything! lol..xxxx
