I received my earliest inspiration from my photography-mad grandfather, who built his own enlarger out of a large Golden Circle [brand] pineapple tin; one of my prized possessions is his old Rollicord camera, which still takes amazingly sharp photos if and when I can find the correct film!
So it is not surprising that my passion for photography preceded the gift of my first B&W camera on my tenth birthday.
I still vividly remember my very first photo ~ an old rusted car up a tree! It had been fixed to the trunk as an advertisment for something; a car museum I think.
This love of the photographic medium grew in my teens to include Super 8 movies. I still have all my 3 minute ones, along with some 20 minute and half hour edited and spliced productions.
As a young adult I studied photography while at University.
In one class we were given SLRs with macro lenses and the task of going to the botanical gardens to take macro slides.
I was hooked! It drew me like the proverbial moth; I was totally entranced and captivated at seeing and capturing the magical microcosms in nature, and every little piece of the Creation I could find, through the macro lens.
After many years without a good camera, I have returned to this, my first love, and am recapturing and discovering anew my passion for photography with my digital fixed lens SLR. And now I am finding new and wonderful ways of capturing even larger pieces of the wonderful world around me, utilising new techniques, approaches and editing software.
It is a grand adventure!
My joy is multiplied and expanded as I give the glory to the One who has blessed me so richly.
To be in the company of like minded souls, wonderful people all, to share their passion and see their beautiful hearts is a rare privilege indeed.
I thank everyone on Red Bubble for all the encouragment, support, prayers prayed and affirmation you have given me.
