Yin T-Shirt

Yin

I noticed yesterday that this did not register on the t-shirts recent tab so I decided to upload it again to see if it did this time…

The very talented and lovely Rae and I teamed up for the latest and greatest challenge over at T-shirt Revolution

After much discussion, we decided to base our designs on Yin and Yang. Our limitations therefore were within the rules of the Chinese belief of which you can read more about here. Our other self appointed guideline was Yin had to be a predominantly white design on a black t-shirt and Yang had to be a predominantly black design on a white t-shirt.

Whilst looking through the ruling system, I realised (in my opinion) how far some of the qualities were from nature.

Yin = Female
Qualities are:

Night
Death
Moon
Decay
Cold
Water
Passive

Yang = Male
Qualities are:

Day
Life
Sun
Birth
Hot
Fire
Aggressive

Especially with the whole life and death connection, as women are life givers and men (generally) take life.

So with this in mind, I added my own interpretation to the whole belief system but staying within the guidelines. If you would like to know more, happy to share, let me know =D
