papery creativity via snail mail

I have been very lucky of late. 2 wonderfully original, papery creations have ended up in my letterbox…

The first to arrive safely was my gorgeous wee book of sketches from the wonderful Ashlee Maegan If you have not seen her work, make your way over now and check out her gorgeous drawings…

The second glorious little treasure was an original bastardised postcard from the enigmatic Najeroux ~ seen below…

People, get creative and send something via snail mail and keep Australia Post alive. Not to mention how effing cool it is to open your letterbox and get something other than bills.

Thank you both ladies and Najeroux yours will be in the mail soon.

Introducing Caanan

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting with the talented, modest, witty, patient Caanan yesterday
(meant to take a photo yesterday but forgot… der!) . I was picking up my very own original Shirthead strip, which I might add is my most prized possession… (stay tuned in future for photo)

I have to give him credit for his patience as when I met up with him and we sat down for lunch my gorgeous 10 month old decided to go completely feral (due to it being way past nap time) and it took me about half an hour to get the little darling to sleep. So sorry again about that Caanan =/

Anyway seeing as though Caanan spends all his time creating questions and interviewing others, not to mention inventing a new strip of Shirtheads every week (which, why is it not featured every week any mo

Which Digital SLR is the best!

Looking to buy new Digital SLR and need some advice from all you photography buffs out there…

I have narrowed down to 2 brands Nikon and Canon….

Choices –
Nikon D80 or
Nikon D200

Canon 40D or
Canon 450D

Here is the catch. My dad is giving me 3 lenses from his old Canon analogue SLR. They are a Canon FD 35-70 – 1.4 and a Tamron 85-210! and a Canon 50. Would it be prudent to perhaps stick with Canon for that reason? Or can I not use them on the new anyway??? Or is Nikon just better.

Any ideas about Pentax….

I am looking at good for low light photography and not mega expensive.

Need advice from people who are happy or unhappy with their cameras and what is good about them. Also which is the best all rounder lens for wedding photography?

Thanks for any help guys =D

How Many of You Keep Creative Journals?

So I am yet again cramming a semester full of ideas into a journal to submit with my photography folio, wondering why I am doing this to myself again Then it struck me, how many artists actually keep a creative journal that they add to all the time as a way to expand on their ideas. I seem to have little notes written on torn bits of paper spread from my car to my desk, but mostly it is pretty much all stored away in my head…. I am a doer rather than a planner.

I would like to know how other people work. Please Share.

So Funny I am Still Crying

I absolutely had to share this email with everyone around here…. For your enjoyment!

*Washington Post’s Mensa Invitational

A clever play on words in case you missed it.

Here is the Washington Post’s Mensa Invitational which, once again, asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

The winners are:*

1. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.
2. Ignoranus: A person who’s both stupid and an arsehole.
3. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
4. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
