When is a chair not a chair?
When it was a tree, it was not a chair
When it was a seed, it was not a chair
When it was nothing, it was not a chair
Perhaps it began as a thought…
Perhaps as an inspiration.
A man, gazing up at the twisted branches
...One idea after another
Flowing through his mind.
Perhaps his limbs became tired and
A vision emerged…
Etched on the trunk of a tree.
Timber – twisting terrifically
Forming a chair of comfort and charm.
Perhaps to him the tree was both
Like a chair
And a chair.
Therefore:
The chair is a tree
And the tree is a chair.
