Class of 2005

I wrote this a couple days before my middle daughter graduated from highschool in 2005.

Class of 2005 belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical

This weekend, may 29th, 2005 Lise will graduate from academy/highschool.

Today when I came home from work, I found her cap & gown
on the ironing board to be ironed…
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry; laugh b/c yes
i have become my mother!!!!!!
Never in my wildest thoughts did I plan or think about
the day my children would grow up; I mean you think about
their future from the day they are born. You want the
best, you try and teach them all the good things, you
protect them, you push them beyond what they think their
limits are to learn independence, you stand behind them,
in front of them, you’d lie down & die for them.

And while you had your head buried deep in parenthood,
you glance up to take a breath and they are taller
then you, more beautiful then you ever imagined anyone
could ever be, they pocess a strength you don’t recognize,
and the intelligence/street smarts you want to learn.

You find yourself attracted to the individual they
have become, the kind of person you would chose to be
with, the person you could laugh yourself silly
with, cry your soul out to, be board with, be mad at,
everything you would want for a friend and more…

I thank god for my lise (carissa & tyler), who are my
heros.

You seem to have power in your soul, and a proud heart. You express feelings with a wonderful and realistic flow of words. If I may, here is a little unsolicited idea; I just posted one of your pieces of art. Use some of your beautiful writing to describe your art.
I think it would be incredible.

Martin, I am so sorry, I just now came across your comment. I apologzie for not thanking you a month ago. Thank you so much for your time and comment/thoughts.

There are moments in my life with my family especially, and with patients I care for at work that often just take my breathe away.

If I would try to explain it outloud to someone, it would dilute the feeling…so sometimes I write it down to perserve.
