My Daughters
Written on a Monday, December 12, 2005…inspired by my daughters love.
I can get choked up thinking about my two daughters. They are the two
most wonderful people in the world, and if you met them you would
know why.
They have both grown to become my closest friends/confidents.
I view my constant and unconditional love towards them an amazing
and uncontrollable phenomenon…a strength. They are as much like
me as they are not and so much like each other as not.
As women, we are each other’s backbone without knowing or saying it,
but by being those caregivers to those around us that most women do
instinctfully…things we do methodically at home or at work that usually
no one thinks about/notices, including ourselves (unless for some
reason-like being HUMAN!!! we forget something, and are reprimanded
as if weNEVER did anything).
So much of my strength to “not give up” and to “move forward” comes
from them without realizing it in just listening and watching them
become themselves.
For Carissa it is being this wonderfully, passionate, loving and creative
mother to my first grandchild, entrepreneur/photograher, soul mate, the
mother next door, the first born, the older sister, the daughter to parents
in different states, the only grand daughter on her father’s side, a friend
to many in her journey so far. Her photography expands my world
by bringing out a tiny, precious detail. The way she writes gives my
thoughts company and the comfort of being heard.
Lise, my middle-sandwiched in between Carissa and Tyler, inspires
and motivates me with her determination to get through whatever it is
she needs to, whether work, school, a relationship, or fun. Her
sensitvity fills my heart with hope and tenderness that the world is
not all bad. She makes me laugh as hard as she makes me cry…
I would not be without her.
My daughters/my friends…I love you.

Thank you janey. There is something my children do to my heart, my way of thinking, my life that to me is the closest thing I can imagine “perfect” is; perfect because it is “not” about me. ...sometimes it can be that perfect pain/hurt,

This is a very beautiful and touching piece. I feel that way about my daughter so I understand the feeling, pride and joy. How special you all are to share this gift amongst you.

Thank you Cheryl. So nice to share this sentiment with another mother. I realized this was written 3 years ago. I think how much has happened since, and how all 3 of us have grown as women.

my Fleur is only 12…I hope all will grow into something like you describe…there is a way to go for me yet

Thank you very much Soxy. I think as mothers/parents we are always “there”, whether it is a new born to 30 yrs old. The age is always precious & priceless. My oldest dtr just turned 30, my second is 22, and we are all still growing and going through these stages of life…

Really wonderfully written!!! Yes, I agree. I hope that I will have the same closeness to my little daughter and not be afraid of the pain that it may include. She is the most wonderful creature and I love her so much!!!

Thank you so much! I think the closeness is from the very start, I will never stop learning, the rewards never lessen.
