The Zoo is the cover artwork for a young adult novel that I started writing during 2008 NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month. The girl in the image is ‘Weird’ from DA artist FurtiveLungs.
Nicely done Jeffery…I really like the spotlighting on the girl and the eyes look beautiful!! :) A novel…thats great……have you submitted yet? ……
Thanks for your kind comments. I loved the way the cat’s eyes came out too. I’m still writing the novel, started in November for NaNoWriMo and I’m just over 51000 words in. I have a bit more to write yet, then a lot of polishing before I submit it anywhere. I did the cover to inspire me when writing got too hard. I have a few shorter works I’ve submitted thought Picture Books and a Chapter Book almost ready to go – But no luck as yet.
That is a great idea !!! I post images of Lilliput all around me to keep me going :) I can’t remember where i read that…..but it works…it pushed me to finish it and stay on track… Did you submit children’s picture books? Do you mind if I ask who you chose to submit? I am looking at 6 right now, I have not submitted as christmas is coming….i thought i would submit in Jan…..what a roller coaster ride…at the start i thought about self publishing but then the more i thought about i really wanted to take a dive into the houses…..good luck to you and crossing my fingers for you :)
I have submitted to Walker Books Australia and to New Frontier, also an Australian company. New Frontier requested a minor rewrite of one of my books but in the end decided it wasn’t quite what they were looking for. I’m waiting until mid January to start sending out again. I have a Chapter Book I’m almost happy with so I’ll send that out too. I’m with you on the self publishing. I’m going to exhaust all avenues with traditional publishers before I think about that. I may even consider doing a serial audio book through Podiobooks before doing a self pulished print book.
I’d love to have a look at your Lilliput story sometime.
