Anole Lizards turn a brighter green in warmer weather, or with emotion….as after winning a fight, or perhaps a male hormone like response, with the chemical reaction shown in the skin. There are studies that have been done, with long words, stating the names of the chemicals, either in the skin or body of these reptiles, but they are the most studied. My habitat in TN for the Anolis Carolinensis, they inhibit the southeastern states most, Tropical and Subtropical America, but they have been seen as far west as Texas. This Anole has lost his tail and growing a new one, which they can do, if grabbed by a preditor, as a cat, bird, and praying mantis also will kill the lizards.
