Anole Near Azalea Bloom by JeffeeArt4u

Currently unavailable for purchase

Anole near the Azalea Bloom. Anolis Carolinensis Lizard native to the USA and Carribean Islands. Insectavorious. Favorite insect seems to be the fly, they also like crickets, spiders, moths, some larva and beetles, and occasional ants. Private Gourley Garden (Anole Habitat) Smoky Mountains, near the Foothills Parkway. Perhaps they are in the National Park around water, or moist places with sun, but most folks are enjoying the view. The lizards dig under ground in winter, but are climbing lizards. Dramatic Azaleas are seen on Gregory Bald in late June and early July. Different types – Flame Azalea bloom earlier, which the mountain people called Wild Honeysuckle. / Lizards have dry, scaly skins. They are active animals that use the heat of the sun to warm their bodies. The warm, dry habitats that most lizards favor occur only at fairly low elevations around the margins of the park. Most lizards have four legs and a trail, but one species that lives in the park, the Eastern Slender Glass Lizard, is legless and resembles a snake.

Nine species of lizards can be found in the park:
Ophisaurus attenuatus longicaudus—Eastern slender glass lizard
Sceloporus undulatus hyacinthinus—Northern fence lizard
Anolis carolinensis carolinensis—Northern green anole
Eumeces anthracinus—Coal skink
Eumeces fasciatus—Five-lined skink
Eumeces inexpectatus—Southeastern five-lined skink
Eumeces laticeps—Broadhead skink
Scincella lateralis—Ground skink
Cnemidophorus sexlineatus sexlineatus—Six-lined racerunner

    lovely image

  • The Azalea schrub with Anole feasting on insects in next to my house, there were at least 4 anole in it, and it looked like a mother Anole teaching her young. This is my cover image for site, I really like it too. Can you see why I had to declare this a habitat for Anole
