The House of Dionysus

The House of Dionysus

Fire caged between domestic walls,
raises bones of timber into the midnight Easter.
I see flames of nails draw blood from the grains
and slowly crush the remains to ashes.

Farewell to ant-roads and bird-nests;
to morning songs and blowing chants.
When you lived I was cooled by your shade
and burned from your shadows.
Through your death,
I was warmed at your cremation
and chilled from the ashes.
