Moving. Timely. Being Easter and all. LOVE the background colour, such vibrance against such violence. Also think you did a great job with texture, using just enough in just the right moments on the canvas. When I look at the black-brownish specks, particularly where they make contact with the subject at his head, hands and shoulders, it raises images of sharp thorns for me….I can almost feel the pain of them. But I think that what ultimately wraps it up for me is the fatigue you’ve captured in his eyes.
Strong painting. Bravo!

very strong work – the position of the fingers and the eyes make the hands seem like butterfly wings. and the narrow shoulders and slender wrists create a feeling of vulnerability and also intimacy. beautiful.

the agony literally bore holes in his hands. Now that is intense. I am also reminded of how when I cry and cover my eyes.. I feel I cannot bear any body see my eyes.. for they reveal the pain.. but here I am lay exposed .. vunerable as the viewer looks into my eyes and see the pain .. and there.. that is where the healing begins.
