On our way home from a bike ride on Sunday, betwen Mt Hotham and Omeo in Victoria in Australia, I saw these guys rounding up their herds in the high country and so I was leaning out of the window taking pics.I wanhted to stop, but we had to be home asap, I love the dogs in this one, they were amazing just running all the time and making sure the cattle stayed on the right roads…
Shot on a Canon EOS 7D - Shot in RAW - 1/320th sec - f5.6 - ISO160 - 1/3 EV - 85mm lens (15-85 zoom)
I saw so many great shots, I just want to do a photography road trip when my laptop is better set up. :)
What a splendid Aussie image Judith! So many great details – the dogs charging forth to work, the drizabone coat, what looks like an akubra hat, sturdy stockhorse and cattle. Marvellous!
Thanks Georgie, we were driving and had to stop for this group and I had my camera on my lap, I would have loved to stop for longer, as there were some girls on horses, further up the road, but I had to get home for a job interview and so had to leave this….I was happy with this shot though as the dogs were in a perfect place as I took it…..The dogs were amazing and I am so glad we got to see them working hard. It was totally aussie!
Oh, I do love this Judith!! I longed to be a drover when I was young and this brings it all back! Fabulous action shot (particularly of the dogs)!!! I can imagine your frustration at not being able to take more photos of this quintessential Aussie scenario, but you couldn’t have done better than this ripper!! Huge fave. :)
Thanks for the coment and I am glad I have captured an image that has meaning……..I wasn’t going to put it up as it was an “out of the car window” job. But on the big screen on the computer it looked ok, and I am very excited to get such great feedback… :)
