My English Mastiff Sophie meets up with wild horse Wisdom on top of the mountain where she likes to play and quickly decided it was time to make fast tracks in the opposite direction to get out of his way. The horse was just as surprised to see Sophie, but since that first meeting they have become friends and don’t mind each other, but Sophie definately stays out of his way!

Beautiful image and what a great story!
This is an incredibly special moment. :)

  • Thank you Corri for your kind and generous comment. I was a little nervous at first thinking the wild horse might think she was a coyote!

Rocky has had the pleasure of meeting a few wild horses, & he is not sure what to think about them. I believe he thinks they are big dogs :). He actually got under a yearling & was smelling & I got him away right before he got kicked. I love taking him with me to see them though! I just stay farther away now.

  • I know you have to really be careful with dogs around wild horses. I never take them with me out in the field when I am photographing~

God I sooooo envy your location! I have never heard of a mastiff mustang, they look to be a slightly smaller breed….;-)

  • It is so beautiful here I feel blessed to live where I do. The dog is an english mastiffs weighs about 170lbs. She must just look smaller in the photo~Thanks for the comment!
