Jean M. Laffitau

Profile

I was born (1965) and raised in Paris (France). Not only was I lucky to grow up in one of the greatest cities in the world, but I’m also the descendant of some very well-known painters. My great-grandfather was Louis Valtat (1869-1952), who influenced the past art scene, and my grandmother Marie-Lucie Nessi-Valtat (1910-1992). I didn’t have the chance to know my great-grandfather, but I spent most of my free time with my grandmother at her studio, observing her paint her art or accompanying her to the many, and very popular, vernissages. This influenced my eye for colours, shapes and fine details, but also for people and life itself. It was the perfect preparation for my present occupation, photography. As a little boy I always handled a camera, and when I became 15, I discovered my love for photography.
