It might be dead but it isn’t going to give up yet…. This wonderful tree defies nature and stands proud in the middle of Rannoch Moor, waiting for the regular pilgrimage by togs to shoot it with the wonderful backdrop of Buachaille Etive Mor..

I’d not been down to the tree before our holiday to Arisaig a few weeks ago..It was easy to get down to itt.. just stepped in all the frozen footprints left by previous fans. Just as well given that the snow was rather deep for somebody lacking height .

(ps; if anybody finds a spirit level there, it may well be mine :) )

Photography is my passion. I get a great deal of pleasure from this wonderful hobby. When the light and the composition come together at the same time, it’s as good as winning the lottery!

Beautiful composition and a stunning wintery view!! What a fantastic old tree!!! I will look for your spirit level when I am up there in May…do I get a finders fee? lol!!

  • LOL! no finders fee… but worth the trog to find it! I doubt I will be stopping there in May on my way to Skye.. but never say never!

We are stopping in Glencoe enroute to Skye for a week in Dunvegan from the 15th May, we are off to the Shetland Isles two weeks beforehand…yes I like rain!! lol!

  • I have stayed in Dunvegan a number of times. Go to the Three Chimneys if you haven’t been before.. expensive but boy, its worth it!
LOL – yes we don’t go to the Highlands expecting mega sunshine though my week up at Arisaig at the beginning of March was just that! Was amazing. I have to admit to being a bit selfish though and craved a bit of drama in the skies.. ;)
