Autumn in Japan: At Peace With Yourself by

Another shot from my “Autumn in Japan” series.

I’ve wanted to visit Asia since I was a teenager, and in October of 2010, my wish finally came true. I spent about 10 days in Japan.

My fascination with Asian culture and traditions finally became a reality to me, and the photographer in me went into overdrive. In 10 days, I captured 2,500+ pictures. I hope you enjoy my first (but hopefully not my last) perspective of this beautiful & amazing country.

I would have to say that this is my favorite shot of my trip to Japan. When I saw this opportunity present itself to me, I quickly captured this moment before it was gone forever. Wow, was I lucky with the outcome. This was taken next to the Tokyo Tower, at the Zojo-Ji temple, Tokyo.

Captured with a Nikon D90 in October 2010. Adjustments made in Photoshop CS5.

Featured in the “Photography Japan” Group, June/July 2012.

Photography to me isn’t just about capturing beauty or magic. It’s about capturing life as it is. Whether that’s ugly, dirty, beautiful, complicated, simple or slightly altered – it’s the perception of the person behind the camera. That’s what makes the art of photography so real and unique, and that’s why it’s a passion that drives me and leaves me wanting more.
